I had high hopes for this joint. It looked pretty classy and a bit atas, but I was to be disappointed.
1, when we were shown to our tables, we were led to 2 identical tables. We chose the one that was nearer to where we were standing, and the waitress said that we could not sit there because it was reserved. Strange, since 2 tables were identical and side by side ( and both were "window" tables ), what was the difference ? The staff don't seem to know how to please the customers. Anyway, we didn't think much of it and took the table she indicated.
2, when we asked about the wine, the waitress didn't seem to know much at all. This is an high end italian restaurant, with a fairly extensive wine list. I would think the staff should have at least some basic wine knowledge or if not, have someone on hand who does.
3, the bloody charges for everything. They don't serve water, unless you buy their overpriced $9 bottle of water. It's not as if we were not drinking anything. We've already ordered wine for all, and we all had dinner plus dessert. Asking for some plain water to wash it down is not too much, and yet, they make you pay 9 bucks for it. A cup ( not glass, but coffee cup size ) of warm water was 50 cents. WTF ?
4, the breadbasket, which is free in most restaurants, is 4.50. We were not told about this. WTF again ?
5. The food was pricey but reasonably good. The pastas are 30-35. I have no issues with this. But with this kind of prices, I expect that drinking water and bread to be provided.
Did I like the food. Yes. Did I like being charged for things that are normally complimentary, and for the poor staff attitude, no. Will I come again ? NO WAY. |
