Go for the smoked salmon pizza and tiramisu

Bounded by my promise to revisit Parma after a previous favourable experience there a couple of months back, I stepped into this cozy restaurant at the fringe of Serangoon Gardens on a lull Saturday evening with my gf.

Plain white washed walls complete with large squarish mirrors and wooden beams keep the interior simple while soft music plays in the background.

Complimentary Bread - The bread was notably more fragrant this time round but still came across as a tad too dry and flat in taste. I personally would have preferred a more robust taste.

Linguine Marinara - I'm not so much a tomato based pasta person but this dish was decent enough for me to actually consume more then my fair share. The sauce was mildly spicy with a nice smooth tomato overtone while the seafood (prawns, lobster & squid) was very fresh. Overall a rather light yet filling dish.

Smoked Salmon Pizza - The key reason that I was back at Parma - to try out their off the menu, much raved about smoked salmon pizza. Its really not difficult to see why this pizza is a hot favourite. For one, the crust is unlike any other pizza crust that I've come across. The thickness is a cross between the thin crust Italian variant and the thick crust American style pizza. The dough is baked for a short period of time to achieve a homogeneous pale white colour with dashes of brown and more importantly, a nice chewy texture with a slight crunch. Topped with smoked salmon that didn't come across as too fishy in a Hollander sauce base infused with dill, this pizza is definitely worth a return visit.

Tiramisu - I've been a fan of Parma's tiramisu ever since I first tried it and its comforting to know that standards have been maintained, except that portions seem to have increased slightly. The sponge to mascarpone cheese ratio was quite well balanced with a hint of alcohol. No limp sponge fingers from over soaking as well. If one slice isn't enough, there is always the option of a 1kg tiramisu at $48++.

Chocolate Fondant - Although a tad small, the chocolate fondant was asthetically pleasing with a slightly hardened exterior encapsulating thick molten chocolate that oozed out when I made a cut in the crust. Instead of the usual vanilla ice cream alongside, mint ice cream was served, which complemented the chocolate fondant very well in my humble opinion.

Recent price revisions have been made by Parma to offer a better value proposition and our dinner for 2 cost about $100, inclusive of juices. Service is good and food quality is evident, especially in the desserts department. Set lunches are now at $15.90+ and there is a pizza promotion on Tuesday where all pizzas on the menu (except the Grilled Rock Lobster Pizza) go for $12.90++.
