| Why did I even go there twice??
I was at Honjin Japanese Restaurant last Friday evening for its lobster buffet promotion. The first impression I had was that the restaurant was filled with sloppy, chin cheong waitresses clad in worn out Yukatas, who tried to explain that their 1-for-1 promotion doesn't mean we pay $34++ for two pax, but $68+++ for two and get two vouchers for free buffet during the next visit.
Service was lacking and food quality was nothing to rave about. When our free 'lobster' arrived, I was like "what lobster??"
I decided not to visit them again but today I decided to give them another chance for its lunch menu. Perhaps it'll be better than mass-produced buffet fare.
After a looooong wait (cos they ran out of RICE!), I was served my Sukiyaki set, which was mediocre. I wouldn’t say it's bad, but with that price I can have premium Sukiyaki at some other restaurants.
My colleagues ordered an Unagi-don and an Unagi Kabayaki set, each with unagi, rice, chawanmushi & fruits. The only difference between them was that the set came with pickles, and that came with a price difference of $7!
We checked with the waitresses to see if we could change the set to don, but got curt responses and excuses from them instead. They started 'whispering' out loud abt us at a corner after that, making me feel uncomfortable.
I doubt any of us at the table will ever visit that restaurant again. |
