| RedDot? Means Keep Away!
Super disappointed. Booked a table for dinner with girlfriend for Valentine's Day dinner. Was informed by the waiter that they were actually not serving the entire menu but just the Charcoal Grill menu, Finger foods & Valentine's Day set menu. Dessert also was limited to Tiramisu. Was quite pissed that they never informed that the menu was going to be so little when I made the booking.
Ordered her a beer while I got myself a coffee and an Oyster Batter. Her beer and Oyster came. My coffee M.I.A.
Girlfriend ordered a cod fish set while I took the Marbled beef. Tasteless. She commented that mine was charcoal Bak Kwa. You seriously cannot taste the beef at all. I swear I've never tasted beef like this before. Be it food court $5 steak or $50 steak. Out of the world disappointed. Her cod fish was not much different. She had a side dish of something that tasted like carrot and whipped potato. Weird taste. Very bland. The tomatoes in the dish were very sour and it also had berries. Imagine a cod fish with sweet, sour taste. Yucks.
Service: Inattentive waiters. Excluding myself, I personally witnessed 3 other patrons having to leave their tables to call for a waiter because it always seemed that they were pre-occupied with other things and not looking around to serve. They forgot my ice coffee, forgot to give me and gf knives. No sugar syrup for ice coffee.
Ambience: Lacking. Not romantic at all. In fact, it was hot. Lighting was turned down to very dim that a few people started to mimic they were falling asleep. The outdoor sitting looking unappealing. Plastic foldable chairs that looked bought from ikea.
Final Conclusion: Me & Gf will never return there. I can stand lousy food if the service is good but lousy food and lousy service is a No-No. The only consolation was the Oyster Batter that tasted quite nice. |

What kind of person goes to brewpub and orders a coffee?
We were also there on Valentines day and had great beer, food and service. We stop in at Red Dot about once per month and the staff always remembers our favourite beer selection (with a friendly smile).
Also enjoy the ambience and outdoor setting.
Next time you are thirsty for coffee, go to the Toastbox and leave more room for those that appreciate the great beer! |
