| From the Horse's mouth
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city and situated in a relatively peaceful place, is a mere 5-6 minute drive into a land of greenery and horses prancing happily in the morning sun.
I've always been intrigued by horses, not because i was born in the year of the horse and not that i love to eat horse meat (NO, NEVER!) but seeing these friendly, strong, muscular and happy horses (at least they look happy to me) just makes my day. Not to mention if you can actually view them trotting away while enjoying great company, food and service, it just helps to start the day (at about 830am) on the right footing.
I made a booking about 3-4 days before as i was pretty excited about meeting up with 2 dear frenz, together with my son. Wanted them all to experience coming upclose and personal (dun mind the smell of horses though as u come out of your car)with these happy creatures.
My gf and I tried an Egg Florentine set each ($12), washed down with Cafe Latte.
Verdict: Divine.
The eggs were nicely done, with the tangy egg yolk oozing down, covering the soft, fluffy cloud of egg white, under which there is a bunch of nice-sauteed sliced pieces of mushroom and the bottom most as a holding base is none other than the toasted muffin. Potatoes were sauteed to the right texture and flavour as a complementary side. Lastly, not forgetting the Berries & fruits By The Side that topped it all up with the following words to describe - "healthy and full of Vitamin C"
My not-so-picky guy fren selected The Riders Breakfast ($13) with a super healthy glass of cranberry juice. He selected bacon to go with 2 sunnyside up, baked beans, potatoes and toast.
Verdict: Nothing to shout about cos u can always prepare this at home, really nothing out of the ordinary. He was disappointed with the normalcy of what was placed in front of him...not even devastation was an understatement.
BUT the food considerably value 4 $$$!
Service was amiable, not over-friendly and basically leave u alone to attend to your own social group. But when we needed to take orders, requires water to be refilled, the guys was pretty attentive. The staff is also accommodating towards naughty babies as my son became so active that he did his own version of STOMP. We sat and chatted while enjoying the cuppa and the tamed horses entertaining us.
Looking forward to my next road bump into the road that leads to Rider's Cafe. |
