| tourist trap -- only bottled water available and pay for your bread
I ate their for a Sunday evening meal with my family (24 AUG 2009). We sat down and were asked if we wanted a "bread basket". The waiter had it in hand. He didn't inform us that we had to pay for the bread -- so I said "sure." No olive oil or butter came with the bread basket. I found out when the bill came that my decision cost me $4.50. Next we asked for tap water for the children. We were informed that they do not serve tap water at La Forketta. So, to furnish my children with water, we needed to spend $9.00 for a bottle of flat water. If the owners intend to make you feel like you've been duped and ripped off, they have accomplished their goal. |

A lot of places require you to pay for even water. Even the cafe at Haato makes you buy their own brand of mineral water. At the end of the day, the restaurant has the right to set its own rules. In places like Crystal Jade and stuff, they also do not inform you that you need to pay for the towels, peanuts, etc. That is the way it is in the food industry and one must always ask if in doubt. |
