347 Balestier Road, New Orchid Hotel, Singapore
Over rated??

F&B
Well, IMHO, over all I think it's ok only...
I've had better Bak Kut Teh... Pepper taste quite nice... but this is Bak Kut Teh... not pepper soup.
The ribs were also kinda powdery, as in frozen meat, not fresh pork from Indo.
Also strange that the ribs that I got wasn't the nice looking ribs that we would see in the pictures... I got those odd looking "bones" that did not exactly resemble ribs.
The intestines were soft and quite tasteless.
I dun take live and kidneys so, no comments.
Veggies were quite ok though.
Pork knuckles... well... my HK friends said that they have tried better ones in their canteen. I find that it's decent to eat though... Not exactly outstanding.

Overall, I am not sure what the fuss is really about.
I was told that some of the coffee shops down the street was has nicer Bak Kut Teh.

Ambience
Funny thing is that when I was there, the first thing I noticed was the "star studded walls. Sometime I wonder if these places use these so called "mega stars" as a pull factor?? But IMHO, I ain't one of them. Even though one Taiwan singer was sitting in the next table to mine today. I did not even know his name, but the fans that were around was quite a pain in the neck... peeping here and peeping there...

But believe it or not... I saw his assistant buy Bak Kut Teh from another shop down the road while I was walking down the street for a cup of coffee... hahaha...

*Just remember the name. Pan Wei Bo.

Value
Not too expensive though quite decent.

Service
This I gotta give it to them. Like what the other reviewers mentioned. They were quite good. If they were not giving the "stars" the attention / gawking @ them, they will gladly attend to you. Highest rating of the 4.

Overall...
Quite over rated.
Makes me wonder if this place is popular cos the place has been visited by so "many" stars.
Give me the impression of "HRC" Hard Rock Cafe where people go see where the stars "are @" & not good food.

Must Tries: Veggies... but it's not famous for veggies are they?

I also recommend this place for
Type of meal:Supper/Night Dining, Cheap Eat/Budget, Lunch, Dinner
Occasion:Children/Family, After Work
Atmosphere:Vibrant/Noisy, People Watching

I've always wonder if pple goes there because of the photo frames on the wall. Glad that you wrote this review.

I always wonder if it's worthwhile standing along the street and at their steps waiting for seats.

The best meal in my life was at
China

I'm allergic to
1. Seafood that is not fresh 2. Food that is overpriced that tastes like crap but uses the excuse.. "acquired taste"... 3. Queuing for food. 4. Getting ripped off @ restaurants.

My last meal would be
Wanton / Barchor Mee
