| Good Value Ramen
I came here expecting a Japanese style ramen and the poster on the shopfront window hightened my expectations of this. My mother in law and I chose the set lunch which was reasonably priced at around $15 I remember (don't quote me on that).
This included a drink - tea or some funny plum juice that was incredibly sweet - soft shell crab, salmon sashimi, and "ramen ramen ramen" - their signiture ramen followed by two pieces of watermelon.
Overall I enjoyed this. The soft shell crab was rather tasteless and the oil used to cook it tasted old. The sashimi was very pleasant. However, the ramen is not really like Japanese ramen. I found the noodles al dente but I felt were too thick for ramen noodles. The soup was rather like a Tonkostu southern Japanese (Kyushu) and rich but lacked something. The egg was nice and the Nori (seaweed) was fresh and crispy which melted into the soup.
The decor is rather odd and they have loads of soup spoons on the walls. |
