| long long queue
think my family chose a wrong time to visit red star, first visit there. and the queue stretched down the stairs, not sure if it happens every sunday though. waited for bout 45mins, considering that the queue was moving at a moderate speed. when we finally got a table, clearly we were all starving so maybe this review isnt too reliable. hahah food tastes better when you're hungry!
anyway we started off with some pan fried carrot cake, char siew bao, har gow and siew mai. the carrot cake and har gow were ok, siew mai had really fresh prawns so it tasted very good. maybe it could have been bigger though. particularly enjoyed the bao, even though i dont usually eat char siew bao at all. hahah but the bao was really soft and fluffy and the char siew was simply good!
then we had some steamed dim sum, not very mentionable. must try is the chee cheong fun, tried the prawn and char siew ones, both were very soft and smooth. century porridge was smooth enough, but not special enough to make an impression. ended off with char siew puff and egg tarts. egg tarts were a bit too sweet, but the crisp and buttery crust made up for it! :D
spent total of $75 for 5 people, very reasonable and filling meal, with quality and quantity! |
