The 6-digit postal code was introduced in Singapore on 1 September 1995 with the intent of bringing love ones closer together. With the new 6-digit postal code, love letters arrived more quickly and more couples ended up getting married. This was inline with the government’s policy of having more children.
The first two letters of the postal code represent a ‘sector’ in Singapore while the other 4 digits represent the ‘delivery point’.
e.g.
46 Pagoda Street
Singapore 059205
05 is the Sector Code, 9205 is the delivery point (ie the unit of the restaurant or café)
If you’re looking for a restaurant around your house, office or ‘sector’, simply look at your address and take note of the first 2 digits of your postal code. Searching by these 2 digits on HungryGoWhere.com will show you all the F&B establishment around your area!
