Interesting mix of Western & Thai

    09 Oct 2012
Looking for a quick bite before our show, we stumbled into this shop that looked very colonial. More interestingly is the spread they have. It's includes Thai and Western (burgers and pizzas). Honestly, this type of spread really works for my family because my hubby loves western cuisine and I love Asian makan.

So our party of 3 ordered:

    1) Ham & Mushroom Pizza - I didn't to eat a slice (no time) but the aroma was wonderful when it was served!! Hubby said the pizza was good. Freshly made dough with generous ingredients and fragrant cheese makes all the difference.

    2) Tanghoon Prawn - I found the Tanghoon a tad salty but very flavourful!! Prawns were fairly large but not incredibly fresh. The serving is large so definitely value for money!

    3) Bacon Burger - according to the hubby, the patty is freshly made and thick too. Tasted great.

Am definitely intrigued to try other dishes there again.

      Smiles

      20 Feb 2012
This is becoming one of my regular haunts – in part as besides Thai, I can also order burger; pizza and North Indian from the adjoining stores....which is bound to keep everyone pretty happy. My only peeves are it is sans air-con and kerb-side parking.

Whet your appetite with papaya salad or mango salad ($6). Thin strips of crunchy raw papaya or mango tossed in a dressing that has the right tones of sweet, sour & spiciness. Salad has light sprinkling of deep fried dried shrimps.

Followed by stuffed chicken wings ($8) – wings that are stuffed plump with chicken meat, mushroom and water chestnut. The sweetness and crunchiness of the water chestnut provided delightful contrast to the meat.

The olive rice ($7) appeared ordinary at first bite. However, it has a pleasant, lingering aftertaste. The accompanying fishcake was hard though.

Pineapple rice ($7) comprised light, fluffy grains of rice with pork floss and chicken wings served on the side. The chicken wings were rather small but had been well seasoned and marinade had permeated into the meat.

Eatery’s rendition of Pad Thai ($7) is on the wet side, but taste is reasonable. You can opt for seafood Pad Thai for an additional charge of $1.

Thai glutinous rice with mango dessert was a fitting end to a satisfying meal.

      Decent set lunch

      20 Jan 2012
Cluster of burger; pizza; Thai and North Indian food joints at The Foundry.

I went for Thai food. Had basil chicken set lunch that came with tom yam soup (S$7). The chicken was very tender and well seasoned, and was served with a fried egg and white rice. Fried egg was fluffy and yolk had a semi-liquid centre. Seafood Tom Yam soup was reasonable and included a good sized shrimp; squid and mushroom.

Couldn’t resist the sticky rice with mango – my favourite Thai dessert. Priced at S$5 or S$3 with set lunch. The coconut milk appeared starchy and I was initially apprehensive – the glutinous rice was warm and soft; mango was sweet and coconut milk did not distract too much.
