Previously known as Baker's Inn, Bakerzin is well known for its freshly made French inspired artisinal bread and desserts.
Ambience at Bakerzin is designed to look rustic and welcoming, with comfortable furniture, clean lines, high ceilings, and natural lighting. Service at Bakerzin is decent. Staff are friendly and polite, and able to carry conversations. Bakerzin staff will accomodate certain change requests as well. I did feel they look slightly rushed at times.
Breads, pastries and desserts are the highlight at Bakerzin. Their bakery churns out freshly made products daily, and part of the appeal is being able to see the chefs / bakers at work. Flavours are superb, and prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The menu in their cafe is rather limited, focusing more on sandwiches and pasta dishes, but the same high quality comes through in their food.
They have the sexiest looking Blueberry Danish I've ever seen! A crispy and flaky pastry diamond sits beneath a generous topping of fresh blueberries and custard, held together with a thin layer of jelly. Really good!
Since the opening of My Village @ Serangoon garden, this place has become one of my favourite hang out place for food. So when we need a high tea place for a quick meeting, we decided to go to Bakerzin.
We ordered Profiteroles, Warm chocolate cake and Foret Noire. Instead of those small and cute version, The Profiteroles here is about the size of hamburger bun, they slice it half horizontally and put 4 scoops of ice cream in between. Finally topped with chocolate sauce and sprinkle with slices of roasted almond. Yum yum, the combo of the ice cream, light cream puff and chocolate sauce is just heaven.
Next, the warm chocolate cake. Simple but delicious. The warm chocolate ooze from the center of the cake and combine it vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce is just simple irresistible. The same can be said about their Foret Noire or also know as Black Forest cake. The cake is moist, rich in chocolate taste and the cream and liquor soak cherry create a nice balance in the cake. Topped with Chocolate shavings, yummy!!
The décor of this place is simple, casual and brighted up by natural light from the sun. A place where you can walk in and enjoy their cakes, deserts and cuppa. There is enough distance between one seating to another so you can have a good space to chat with you buddies without feeling any intrusion. Service is good and they won't bother you after they serve your order. On a weekday, you won't have a problem finding a seat.
Overall, I always find that you can't go wrong with Bakerzin when it come to cakes and deserts. It is a good place to meet up with your friends or to conduct casual meeting, just like what I did. Cheers :)
Bought a Tiramisu for a birthday Gal last week. Due to GSS, price was slash to $30 from $48.
Honestly, it is one of the best Tiramisu I ever tried in Singapore. The sponge base is nice and moist. The espresso powder, coffee liquor and cocoa powder mixed well with the cream. Light in texture and easy on the palate. Well balance of the sweetness, or should I say, perfecto. Lets say if you bring this to any Italian restaurant, they will not consider it as an insult after they tasted it. Who knows you might even get a 'bellissimo' or 'deliziosa'
I love Bakerzin! And I even got the membership card.
But sadly, this new outlet in Serangoon Gardens was such a disappointment.
The staff, perhaps new, were not attentive and did not notice we had sat down. Upon waving and getting their attention after a few mintues, a staff walked over and smiled, appearing to take our order. How could we give our orders if we were not given menus to browse and see what we would like to have?
Our orders took a relatively long time to come, and our food came before our drinks. I then inquired about my coffee, they either took a really long time to make my Mocha or seemed to have forgotten about it.
When my coffee came, the staff accidentally spilled the coffee on the table, and splattered and stained my friend's shirt. She apologized saying it was too full.
My friend ordered soup and an ice cream, and it came together. As expected, the ice cream melted into what seemed like a soupy liquid texture by the time he was done with his soup. He was unable to down the 3/4 cup filled of liquid ice cream at the end of the meal.
We really did not have a good dining experience at this outlet.
Such a disappointment, Bakerzin should really look into training their staff well and have better service.
Perhaps the chef had an off day, but this wasn't up to Bakerzin's usually high standards. The pasta was undercooked and lacked sauce, and my baked pasta was rather bland. The ambience makes this place worth coming back to, but the food has to buck up. The manager seemed receptive to the feedback and I'll be willing to try again.
