Bakes N Bites is a small but bold enterprise that’s helmed by baker Christopher Lau & lifelong partner. Not too long ago, he was displaced in the field of employment, but the never-say-die spirit in him, picked up the lemons to make lemonade.
Christopher took a big leap of faith to learn the craft of bakery, and invested a good year of experimentation. He overcame the learning curve, and today rolls out a decent variety of cakes, muffins and pies.
Behold, all their produces are crafted by hand, so you can be certain of the freshness and uniqueness. Doing things just a little bit different paid off, earning them accreditation & mention from authorities as well.
If you are at the Old Airport Road Hawker Centre, and would like to get some muffins, swiss rolls, puffs, cakes or shepherd's pie, then this stall is where you should head to. Bakes n Bites offers products that are of mostly natural ingredients, reasonably priced and baked on-site by Christopher.
Very seldom I see people selling shepherd's pie but this stall has it. Two types of meat fillings to choose from; chicken or beef, priced at $3 and $3.70 respectively. Made from scratch using russet potatoes and with a slight twist. No milk, cheese nor tomato sauce. This was to allow customers whom might have certain dietary concerns with regards to dairy product to be able to enjoy the pie.
The muffins were nice and suitably sized. Liked the double chocolate chips flavoured one and the blueberry muffin when eaten warm. The more unusual flavour would be the herbal flavoured one. No worries, as the herbal muffin did not taste funky nor bitter. It was sweet and enjoyable.
Also enjoyed the latte coffee swiss roll and the 5-layer cake. Yums.

Many shops pitch their sweets as home made but the couple actually make it themselves. After selling third party products and being disappointed with the quality, they decided to make it themselves. Pandan Swiss roll is made from scratch using leaf. Vanilla Swiss roll is made using pods. Orange cake is made with real orange. They toil 12 hrs a day to bake. . Other than those mentioned, the butter cake is very good and so is the fudge. Eat there try coffee from the adjacent stall and TP for home.
