While Dempsey pitches itself as a nature inspired dining place, few places have the verdant greenery that Bishan park or Canopy has. It is indeed dining in a garden, even on the roof !
Food: We ordered a huge variety of dishes: Starters: Caesar's salad, Tofu salad, Strawberr salad. Mains: Beef bourginon, seafood pasta, blackened salmon, veg vermicelli. The highlights were the salads, it is the place to go if you love salads and what a variety, all fresh and great tasting. The mains to recommend would be the beef bourginon, seafood pasta. They were deliciously prepared and steeped in sauce. Improvements to the salmon could be done with less gravy in the veg serving, tended to be soggy cabbage in the end (see photo).
For desserts we decided to share as we were too full already. Let me recommend the apple crumble with ice cream, chocolate brownie (dark chocolate and milk chocolate).
Value: Lower than hotel prices or Dempsey prices, but pitched at the cafe price point. The scenery and pleasant surroundings account for 50% of the price.
Service: Pleasant, friendly and quick.
Ambience: Top marks for t lovely cool place, with lots of greenery and few pedesterians walking around. The canopy has a roof garden too, so remember to pop out and have a look at it.
