Read and post reviews on Casa Bom Vento at its new address
After so many years, Casa Bom Vento still serves up an excellent meal under chef Lionel Chee. He doesn't stinge on the ingredients that are required for the truly delicious sauces or rumpah used for their various dishes. We had the buah keluak rice accompanied by the devil's curry, winged beans salad, brinjal laced with chopped tomatoes & salted fish and fish maw soup. Highly recommended.
This review relates to a planned visit that did not materialize. I had made lunch reservations for a party of 10+ pax about 4 to 5 days before the visit. The reservation was confirmed and reconfirmed on the eve of the day. On the morning of the event, I received an email from the restaurant advising that they will not be able to accommodate my group due to staff shortage. Within the short span of 2 hours, and while still in a meeting, I had to frantically make alternative plans for the group that had been initially advised that the lunch venue was Casa Bom Vento. Thank goodness I was able to find another restaurant that was able to accommodate our big group at short notice. In summary, Casa Bom Vento's lack of reliability has left a bad impression on me. Will not dare to make reservations there in the future given this bad experience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Singapore. the food is delectable. It is run by Wendy and her husband who are charming and will educate you about the items in the menu. Service is impeccable and the old shophouse interiors are warm and woody. Every item is hand prepared and they don't use any readymade curry pastes. The food is authentic Eurasian (of the Portuguese variety). We eat at Casa Bom Vento very often and would heartily recommend this place for an authentic Peranakan experience. You will not find this food anywhere else in Singapore.

...Grilled Baby Sting Ray with Black Peppercorn and Curry Leaves, the fish was marinated in black peppercorn sauce and other condiments, then pan fired. It was perfectly cooked, with crispy edges but smooth and moist flesh inside. With the pepper taste lingered in my mouth, fried curry leaves gave another dimension to the dish. Grilled Baby Sting Ray with Black Peppercorn and Curry Leaves is a signature dish of Casa Bom Vento. I had no question why. Just wonderful...
