the ice cream was smooth and creamy. I am a chocoholic and I loved the ice cream I tried. if you are shopping around orchard area and want to take a break. should give this place a try.

this place is kinda cute – you pick a flavor (or a few) of ice cream, choose some toppings from their diabetically-inducing large spread of throw-ins, and then they smash everything up together on a cold stone (oh, hey, that’s where it gets it’s name) before smooshing the mess for your dining pleasure.

    it’s very american ice-creamy, by which I mean its sweetness is more ben-&-jerry’s than häagen-dazs (which is american in provenance, but european in sugaring), with shades that match the technicolored dreams of a hyperactive child. the sheer range of flavors and add-ins are truly impressive – and can get rather confusing, which makes the long queue almost fortuitous in giving you time to decide.

With the store at Orchard Central being most popular, Cold Stone Creamery is an ice cream shop that specialises in “mix in ice cream”, where they mix various ingredients into ice cream, on a cold stable top (so it doesn’t melt) and serve it to you in a cup, preferably lined with crispy waffle. At Cold Stone, they are also known for their acrobatic skills when preparing the ice cream creation. It is very obvious that this place has American origins, from the ice cream flavours and their calorie overload servings.

There are other similar concepts like Cold Rock and Marble Slab, but it seems that Cold Stone is the better of the lot, apparent from the long lines. On a Friday night, the waiting time for ordering was about 20 minutes. However, it is great that they have abundance of seating so no worries about hogging a table at this busy joint.

You can either create your own from scratch for choose from their signature creations.

With the waffle this cosy $6.50 each! The waffle cost $1. There’s also the option for chocolate dipped waffle, for $1.50.

They were all pretty good but if I had to choose one I guess I’d choose the Cheesecake Fantasy! I am a fan of cheesecake anyway, if that explains anything.

I wouldn't mind trying out their other flavours again.

Fun-filled Cold Stone Creamery.

When they say that they have energetic and amazing crew, they mean it. I haven’t, as popular as Cold Stone Creamery  is in Singapore, been to this Ice Cream Parlor. I didn’t have any idea what sets it apart from the rest of the cafes / places that sells Ice Cream. Not until I went ahead with it when my friend opted for it.

Just by looking at the queue and how all the seats in the parlor are occupied, I know for sure, something has to be going on in there. We found a seat not too long later, probably thanks to beginners’ luck (for me). This is probably the only place where when you’re waiting for your ice cream to be made, your heart beats a little faster, although positively. I haven’t had any experience like this – the crew was throwing and tossing balls of ice cream in the air – into cups, onto the preparation board, and across the room into cups filled with waffle. I am, impressed. And highly probably so are the rest of the people in the room. To add to the fun, when one of the crews drop a ball of ice cream on the floor, they make a huge hooha about it. It’s just, so much fun just by ordering the ice cream, so much that you secretly wished that they’d drop theirs on the floor so that you can stand at the counter and continue watching others at work. If you’re bringing your child there, they have a viewing gallery (or standing spot, rather) for kids too. It’s cute.

German Chökolätekäke (with Plain Waffle, ‘Love It’, 6 oz) ($8.90) ::  The name of the signature creation is already entertaining, if you try to say it out aloud, repeating it a couple of times. Anyhows, it’s of chocolate ice cream base, with brownie, pecans, coconut and caramel, all jumbled together. The ‘Love It’ size, also known as the Medium size (6 oz), is $7.90 itself, with the add-on of plain waffle would be $1, or if you’d rather have a dipped (in chocolate) waffle, it’s $1.50 instead.

Chocolate Devotion (with Plain Waffle, ‘Love It’, 6 oz) ($8.90) :: Oh be warned, if you aren’t starving, go for a ‘Like It’, 4 oz instead. I was literally stuffing myself with the thick chocolate ice cream, topped with chocolate chip, brownie and fudge. You can’t taste anything but chocolate, of course, you can tell by the name. Having a waffle to come with chocolate ice cream would be a smart choice as it makes finishing the cup of ice cream less painful.

Some other flavors that they have includes Peanut Butter Cup Perfection (which wasn’t too bad actually!), Berry Berry Berry Good (strawberry, blueberry and raspberry), Oreo Overload, Coffee Lovers Only (self-explanatory), Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip  and more. If you’d so like, you can customize your ice cream order too. It’s just at a little higher cost – no more than a dollar.

Service at the counter is for sure, as aforementioned, friendly, approachable and energetic. It’s already joyous to look at them preparing your order (for your information, my ball of ice cream was thrown across the counter into the cup with the waffle – seen with my naked eyes). However, I probably wouldn’t encourage / suggest people to go for dessert there, due to the sheer fact that the prices are very steep. I just can’t justify its worth (even with the ‘performance’ before the course). Nevertheless, it’s worth at least one try for everyone.

The much anticipated Cold Stone Creamery has arrived on our shores! I have been waiting for the final touches to the ice-cream cafe to be completed ever since walking past her advertorial a few months ago.

Other than their signature creations, one is able to select any ice-cream flavor and infuse it with different combinations, ranging from gummy bears, brownies, fruits and the extensive list goes on..

The Cream De Menthe milkshake was smooth and rich; the mint ice-cream was refreshing while the chocolate shavings compounded the sweetness of the beverage.


The German-Chokolatekake was awesome! The only disfavor from this Signature creation arises from the use of coconut. The huge chunky brownies added to the chocolate indulgence while the sweet caramel brought a pleasant, fulfilling touch to the ice-cream.

Not just another Cookie and Cream ice-cream that can be found just anywhere; Oreo Overload is probably one of the most satisfying and delectable ice-cream that I have ever tasted. The Sweet Cream ice cream was subtly sweet; and complemented the generous servings of chocolate chips and Oreo bits very well. I enjoyed the crunch of chocolate chips with every bite as every chocolate piece was huge and chunky, as though broken apart from a large chocolate bar.

Probably everyone’s favourite too, since it is a popular choice among her patrons. Founder’s Favourite is an infusion of an ice-cream fan’s favourite goodies; moist chewy brownies, sweet and smooth caramel, lusciously rich fudge with pecans adding good texture and crunch to the concoction. Definitely a must-try if you patronise Cold Stone!

Just one simple visit to Cold Stone Creamery and Bryan & I have become their absolute fan. The staff at Cold Stone are a bunch of animated and jovial young adults who would once in a while, give a little surprise by introducing their cheers and as such, the little cafe has this buoyant atmosphere which causes Cold Stone Creamery to be such a great and relaxing place to hang out at; while indulging in their “Super Premium” ice-cream of course! Cold Stone Creamery is definitely going to be a hit with all the ice-cream lovers.
