Choco Loco!
21 Apr 2013I returned to ‘De Burg’ this week to finally try that ‘Choco Lamb Burger‘ which I couldn’t get out of my head since I first saw it on the menu.
To be honest until I had my first bite I was not really sure if this was going to be totally disgusting or weirdly good. I anxiously took my first bite and was absolutely amazed. It worked so much better together than I ever would have thought it would. At first it felt like biting into a toasted Nutella roll from my childhood until I tasted that delicious lamb patty and it actually transformed into a burger. The meat was nicely charred on the outside but juice and and full of flavour on the inside, not too lamby as well. The juices and the chocolate mixing was a real eye opener. I couldn’t believe how fantastic that actually worked together and that no one (at least that I know) has ever tried this before. The only ingredient that I reckoned was a bit odd was the tomato. The whole burger disappeared in no time and left me nicely filled and super content.
I was really happy I gave this burger a shot and can’t wait to introduce it to friends. Thanks 'De Burgers', you made my day.

good find at a local kopi-tiam
13 Apr 2013regulardad: great to find an interesting 'makan' place near my home, at a local coffee-shop in alexandria village, to be exact. the signature 'de burg' burger is a whopping 200g beef patty burger that comes with two side dishes. for the price, it was satisfying and value for money - don'ya agree, pig-bottoms? harlo?
*ignoring me, charlene was busy juggling her kiddy spoon with her teeth...
regulardad: oh, what's this hash-brown doing in my hand?
charlene: dadidadidadidadidadi!!
*a couple of amused patrons walked by and one joked, "boy, i hope she is not going to finish the whole burger..."
regulardad: (*nervous laugh) oh dear no, she couldn't possibly. (*actually she can, with the sides et al.)

De Burg was in a coffee shop that was within walking distance from both Ikea and Queensway Shopping Centre. The coffee shop faces the OG Factory, next to Alexandra Village Food Centre, and near the nest of car workshops behind.
The kitchen only opens at 6:30pm. Some of the burgers have two prices, one in blue and one in green. The blue-coloured pricing indicates the cost of the 100g burger while the prices in green indicate the same burger at 200g. The 100g burger comes with one side while the 200g burger comes with 2 sides. After much deliberation, I decided to go for the 200g Asian Chicken Burger which was marked as very popular in the menu while the boyfriend took the Bacon Cheese which was also very popular.
Btw there is 5% discount for certain groups of people! Like tertiary students from NUS/NTU/SMU.
The salad with balsamic vinegar and Olive Oil was tasty and the greens were crisp and crunchy. The fries were thick and crispy. But the best part was definitely the burger! I love the chicken patty with salted egg sauce. It had this unique salty taste and the patty was soft and juicy.
