Sad burger and a high price
25 Sep 2012I've given this place a few chances. The burgers are small, over priced and the meat patties are more like the heavily process ramly burger style patty rather than something appearing 'fresh'.
The visit today is my last. The advertising claims the burgers are made without added oil - I watched the cook deep fry the meat, before putting it on the hot plate and then on to my burger. I questioned why and was told there was "something wrong" with the meat (undercooked ? it wasn't explained)
If you want a japanese burger try MOS burger instead.

Spam and tofu burgers, anyone?
12 Jul 2012Who doesn't love a good juicy burger? There are many great burger restaurants and fast food joints in Singapore, from traditional to gourmet, to satisfy those on the hunt for that perfect patty. Unfortunately, not all hamburgers are created equal. Cooking method, portion size and choice of bread, meat and toppings can mean the difference between a relatively low-carb meal and a day's worth of calories.
Freshness Burger, a popular burger chain originating from Japan, is one semi-gourmet burger place to check out. Located at the Central and Causeway Point, this semi-restaurant and fast food concept chain has been in Singapore for over a year and has often been compared withMOS Burger for their Japanese-western burger concept. Just like MOS Burger, Freshness Burger mixes things up with interesting burger offerings. As the name implies, Freshness Burger uses fresh ingredients from Japan and every item on the menu is created on site – nothing frozen. Their onions and potatoes are from Hokkaido and the burger and salad dressings are “secret” recipes from Japan.
During our recent visit, the restaurant manager highly recommended their all-time favourite Classic Cheese Burger ($6.90 or $9.40 with bacon & egg). However, we found it to be quite disappointing. The Australian beef patty was thin (almost the same thickness as the tomato). The burger would have tasted better if it had just the beef patty and some lettuce, as the addition of other ingredients such as chicken bacon, cheese, sunny-side-up egg, sautéed onion, fresh lettuce and tomato and tangy sauce simply drowned out the classic cheese burger flavour.
While the cheese burger was a flop in our books, we tasted a few standouts that day, namely, the Spam and Tofu Burgers. The delectable Spam Burger ($4.20) consists of a large, thick slab of grilled spam (chicken luncheon meat), sandwiched between slices of juicy tomato and a sunny-side-up egg and topped with shredded cabbage, teriyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise. This burger is really satisfying—something we would definitely go back for!
For those who prefer an alternative to meat, the Vegetable Tofu Burger ($5.90) is worth a try. It's fairly basic and consists of a piece of grilled tofu in a bun topped with avocado, tomato, lettuce and Japanese mayonnaise. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft inside. The burger was light, healthy and had a distinctive flavour but was slightly bit messy to eat.
Freshness Burger also has a World Spice corner where you can help yourself to different sauces like HP sauce, Cholula hot sauce, various tabasco sauces and many others from around the world. For sides, the Fried Potatoes ($3.30) and Onion Rings ($3.90) are good complements to your meal. The fried potatoes were not too oily and had a buttery texture while the giant onion rings were packed with natural sweetness. Complete your meal with organic coffee-based drinks or tea. You also get $2 off every complete set (any burger + any drink + any side) ordered.

All day breakfast
07 Mar 2012Discovered the place by accident while we walking around Singapore and looking for somewhere to have a late breakfast.
Being not very hungry, we share a single breakfast "Mom's style" set and were delighted by the taste and quality for such a low price.
The staff were especially friendly and helpful. One example: we were standing behind a group of hesitant people, slowly ordering on a Groupon deal, so one of the staff members call me, took our order and started preparing our fool, while the Grouponners were still hesitating...
We will certainly come back for the breakfasts...
