Pleasant Surprise - Definitely will go back there

    08 Sep 2012
My friends and I had initially chosen this place to celebrate a friend's birthday but after reading the recent 2 reviews here we were quite hesitant. But we still decided to go ahead ANYWAY and take the risk. I can tell you we were richly rewarded.

Not only were the servers attentive, friendly and nice, the food was suited to our tastebuds too! (No GST & Service Charge is always a good thing to know) On top of that, we were intrigued by their selection of ciders and beers and had lots of fun trying out the flavors available. I had the St Louis Pork Ribs at $16NETT and it was certainly comparable to the one I had at Chili's a week ago. Of course the sizes are different and so are the prices. But this place has a much nicer ambience and the thoughtful touches to the interior shows the attachment the management has for the heritage of the place.

I will certainly recommend this to my friends and will come back again, be it a large gathering or for a date night.

: Elderflower Cider, St Louis Pork Ribs, Calamari

I also recommend this place for:

Dinner, Large Groups/Gathering, Children/Family, After Work, Private Dining, Chillout, Quiet, Hidden Find, Live Band

      not for me

      06 Aug 2012
I decided for a simple dinner and booked to come to Heart of House.

A rock place which is designed to play music from all sorts of rock music from the 60s to the 80s, it has an amazing amount of young crowd, many of whom have a good time laughing at the older music videos.

I started with some corn chips ($3) with chili dip ($3). Quite a thick dip and a good start to the meal.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the House of Hearts Special Pasta ($16), which was a very dry form of spicy aglio olio filled with noodles and chili but nothing much else.

After a long while, my order of Chicken Curry ($14) arrived. Whilst the chicken meat was tender, I found it a little too spicy for my consumption.

Whilst the food did not meet my expectations, service was friendly and people who love their food spicy and love their rock music would probably appreciate this place more than I did.

        Lovely gem in Tiong Bahru

        18 May 2012
I was introduced to Heart of House by colleagues during a lunch meeting, and I had an instant connnection with this place.

Heart of House served great wholesome meals whenever I am there. I love beef - and they serve the best cuts for the Roast Beef dish, as well as the Roast Beef salad. I observed that the staff are attentive to customers most of the time, despite hosting customers in a small space and the constantly stream of orders in the kitchen.

Derek, who runs the restaurant, is a very friendly and approachable guy. We got accquainted and he always tells me about his passion for food and serves only quality meals to his customers.

I am always on a beer hunt, and I am always spoiled for choices here at Heart of House. Think I have lost count of how much brews I have tasted. Always love a good Schneider Blonde or quaff my beef stew down with a Kiasu stout.

        : Quesadillas, Roast Beef

I also recommend this place for:

Supper, Dinner, Business Dining, After Work, Private Dining, Chillout, Alfresco/Outdoor Dining, Live Band
