Nice quiet place for weekend getaway

Rochester Park is the place for a quiet weekend getaway. I enjoy bringing the family here for brunch to have quality time. Food here is ok, but service could be improved. Overall, a good dining experience.

Great restaurant for hanging out

The first time I was at Nosh was for a dinner birthday celebration for a friend. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was good.

I returned several months later for their weekend brunch and was pleased to find out that the quality of food and service was still similiar. Between the four of us, we had the Nosh Omelette, Fish Tacos, Classic Burger, Fry-up and pancakes.  All the dishes were really tasty and the portions were really generous. I had the omlette and thought that the pork confit was a novel yet well executed touch. The pancakes, which we all shared were fluffy and the spiced maple syrup really added to the dish.

The only thing that you may have to watch out for is the heat. The four of us found it quite comfortable as there are many cooling units and fans located around the dining area. In fact, we quite enjoyed being able to dine outside without having to worry about the rain (as the dining area is covered by a canopy)

However, my guess is if you are severely heat sensitive, you may want to come down for dinner instead.  Nosh is beautiful no matter if it's in the day or night and it's the perfect place for a quiet catch-up session with friends. I'll definitely be back.

Decent Food, Atrociously Bad Service (NOT suitable for CHILDREN)

Just went there on a regular Sunday for brunch. The place was empty when we arrived, and the service staff looked idling by.

We had 2 families and requested for 2 high chairs for our toddlers. One of the high chairs had a crack in the base the size of my fist and my wife pointed it out to the waiter while requesting it be replaced. We were greeted with a sour look as the waiter took away the chair (which even my friend noticed but I shrugged off), and otherwise nil acknowledgement that he had even heard my wife's request. After waiting 10 minutes and sending 2 gentle reminders, I was still left standing as the rest of the table were seated and my son was in my chair (not 1 of the waiters offered me a seat while waiting for the high chair and were quite nonchalent with watching me standing). I finally walked over to the duty manager to ask what would take so long for  a high chair to come to our table. He offered no explanation except to say they needed time to get it and that usually guests informed them ahead of time if they were coming with children.

With so many other al fresco dining & brunch options at the Rochester like Da Paolo or Seb's,  I would definitely not recommend coming to Nosh even if you only live across the street like I do and are just looking for a new place to try.

If however you have no young children & are especially tolerant to poor service, some of the items on the menu are quite okay (e.g. crabcakes) but definitely available elsewhere.

Food "Good" - Service "Appalling"

Went there for Mother's Day - Sunday 11th May.

 Good Points:

The venue was nice. Good seating outside, could use more ways to cool the customers though I can see it getting uncomfortable for some people. The food was very good. I had the Flank Steak, perfectly cooked and very tender and delicious. My wife had the Salmon she loved it. We also had the Prawns appetizer first time I have seen that in Singapore a welcome change of pace and very good.

 Bad Points:

The service staff was appalling. Very uninventive, seemed like they could care less if they were there. Two of the service staff using there phone by the Host stand right next to the manager. Their knowledge on drinks and the menu was nothing less than terrible. We asked a few questions and they had no idea. When I asked for my steak to be done medium rare they had no idea that there were temperatures on the steak. When asked about wine selections they couldn't describe to us what pairs well with what. At the end of the meal my wife asked what that table was over there in the back. The server just shrugged and said our dessert table and walked away (it was a gentleman with glasses kind of tall). We would have gotten the dessert table but after that we just wanted our check and leave.

 Overall:

If it wasn't for the food and the venue I would stay away from this place like the plague. The service staff ruined what could have been a very nice evening for me and my wife. Go for the food and the ambience do not go for service as you will not get any.

Refreshing Change

Nosh is just a quick walk 3-5 minute walk from Buona Vista MRT.  The al-fresco dining area is beautiful. Tables are well spaced out so diners don't feel claustrophobic. Even through quite a few tables were occupied, we didn't feel like there was a lack of privacy.  The food was great, even the bread service that came before the meals was tasty. We also had a couple of their house cocktails which were refreshing and not sickeningly sweet.  The ambiance is a draw and it's a welcome change from the usual mall and city dining spots.

Our server also informed us that there is brunch on weekends and my girlfriends and I have already planned to come back to check it out.
