Peperoni has found yet another neighbourhood niche that is popular with expatriates, and that is being near the Great World City area.
Despite its slight dim light setting, a look around the restaurant verifies that it is indeed a casual diner, with speedy wait staff moving around to ensure quick and efficient service.
At a recent visit, I started with the Calamari ($14), which was average at best, with some of the squid being a little over-done. Also, it was served quite awhile after leaving the pan, so parts of the batter were a little tough.
From the pasta menu I tried the Vongole with Angel Hair ($22). This was a well-executed dish with a strong clam essence in the limited broth that is soaked by the noodles.
I also tried the Seafood Risotto ($26), which I found to be too rich and creamy caused by the excessive use of tomato and cheese.
From the pizza menu I tried the Med Manzo ($19), a beef pizza with good quality tender pieces of beef done medium and cheese which would suit well with the Singaporean palette. As pizzas are prepared a la minute, one should be prepared to wait a little for the food.
Finally, ended the meal with a Tiramisu ($11). The version served here has a good balance of dryness and wetness.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience and one should expect a slightly above average fare.
