slightly disappointed
16 Jun 2011I had pretty high hopes for this place since it was opened by the revered ex pastry chef of Les Amis Group. I like the concept of an american bistro style place, which is quite rare here in Singapore.
We got a table for 2 quickly enough on a Friday evening, probably because I was there before 7. While waiting for Elvis, I started off with an iced tea. Or should I say iced lemon tea. As I wasn't precise enough, the young waiter came back and asked me if i wanted an iced tea or a iced lemon tea. Hmm. My bad for confusing him. I scanned through the menu while waiting for Elvis.
Debating between a burger and a hotdog, I eventually settled for the former, choosing the Maryland crab cake burger. Elvis got the burger with mushrooms (Shrooms). We also got Whoopie fries, and a brownie to share. We changed the fries that accompanied our burger to a salad. Initially, we wanted to pay extra and change the fries to Whoopie fries instead, but this was not allowed. Which kind of made me expect the Whoopie fries to be really special. However, they turned out to be just fries doused in a mix of spices. Taste wise its not bad, but not super fantastic either. The crab cake burger was pretty good, I like it, though it could come with abit more sauce.
The brownie was bad. At least to me. The texture was really strange, almost as though they minced up the brownies and shaped them into squares. They fall apart when I stabbed my fork into it. Fail!!!!!!!!!!! I bake alot myself, and I really don't think this is how normal brownies (or american ones) should be like. Despite of these hit and misses, the place won me over with chirpy staff and friendly service. I will give it another shot, perhaps try out their other pretty cakes displayed at the counter.

Great place
05 Apr 2013My brother and I came across this beautiful restaurant and were really attracted by the nice décor. The atmosphere looks like one of those laid back American eatery you can find in New York.
Once inside I got the eggs benedict and he had the breakfast burger.
The egg benedict was amazing and specially the runny yolk. And how to describe the English muffins that tasted like soft and crispy at same time. All together makes the dish very delightful and filling.
My brother try the Breakfast burger with bacon and beef, a sunny-side up and salad. He had a great moment too, the beef look juicy and fragrant and the onion were freshly sliced bacon was perfectly fried. Also fries were so crispy.
In dessert we ordered both an Hot Iron Waffles with Maple Syrup. Waffles were warm served, crunchy and yum. The Maple syrup gave a sweet taste which balance perfectly well with the waffles. Definitely a must have.
Service was great, overall. Nothing to complain about really! There wasn't much people there at that time and they were attentive and courteous.
I would definitely like to come back to try their desserts and all day-breakfast. Overall I recommend this place for brunch with friends and families as the prices is value for money.

decent, if small, sticky date pud in ngee ann city

it’s a small portion of cake and a drizzle of sauce alongside a scoop of bean-speckled vanilla ice cream. not the best or the most innovative (this goes to artichoke for the moment), but it was well-warmed and moist, and not too sweet. a decent rendition, really.
service was kind of absent even though it was basically empty – but our pudding came fast enough. nice place for a quick chat, though it’ll probably get noisy when the shopping mall fills up – but a good choice to keep in mind.
