Porn's (Liang Seah Street)

AsianThai
Porn's is a authentic Thai restaurant owned by Singapore Mediacorp Artiste Pornsak Prajakwit and his partner Ex-Mediacorp producer Foo Tuan How. When anyone mentions porn's, the first thing that come to your mind is probably pornography but in this case, porn's actually mean "blessing" in Thai!

Overall Decent

I finally got a chance to try my favourite local host’s restaurant!! Ever since watching Food Source, my admiration for Pornsak has increased by leaps and bounds. He’s witty, talented, brilliant, multi – lingual,  knowledgeable and cute!

Well anyway I’ve booked a table yesterday so we got seated immediately at 1215pm when we reached. After that, the lunch crowd started streaming in like nobody’s business. It was 6 of us, so we had quite a lot of food!

Yummy Thai Food

For a full review, please visit - http://palulife.blogspot.sg/2013/11/pornsaks-thai-food.html

This is by far one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Singapore. I love their aromatic Thai green curry, succulent prawn cakes and flavorsome Pad Thai. Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) is something we always order here. Its not on the menu, but they can prepare it on request. The food is indeed delicious and value for money.

Watch out for some Porn’s s*** Thai Food.

Rumor has it that a Mediacorp artiste ventured out of acting and opened a restaurant in 2011. Yes indeed, Porn’s s*** Thai Food is founded by none other than the Thai-Chinese actor, Pornsak Prajakwit. Since my trip to Bangkok last year, I’ve been an ardent fan of authentic Thai food, especially the green curry. So not only am I on a quest to satisfy my insatiable cravings, I wanted to find out whether Porn’s is just a popularity restaurant.

I had finally dined at Pornsak’s restaurant!

I don’t claim to be a food expert like most people does here, but will just like to give my two cents worth after years of eating and dining out. PORN’S mission of selling authentic thai food  with a soul sounds perfect for me to begin with. I never expect to be able to get my thai fix when the urge arises in Singapore anyway. Years of traveling to Thailand for diving and accustomed my taste bud to the wild world of thai cuisine. They may not be the healthiest choice around, but for instant “food o*****”, thai food rank high! And PORN’S definitely too!   My group of 4 ordered deep fried chicken with Garlic, prawn cake, fish cake, tom yum goong, kangkong and orange curry. Deep fried chicken is just like the street snck that lined up the whole siam shopping mall, where u see thais vendor just fried n fried serving u the best fried chicken, PORN’S version is less oily than what I expect but equally juicy and crispy. I salivated the moment the tom yum was served. Strong punch of thai parsley and ginger seeps through my nose, and what is a better way to start a dinner than a tomyum. Fresh crunchy prawn and canned mushroom was inside the soup. Ingredient may have more variety but taste of soup is one of the best I had tried. Prawncake is their signature item and indeed it doesn’t fail me. The myth about prawn cake also puzzled me because you can never find thai prawn cake in Thailand but it is a common dish in Singapore thai restaurant, That aside, their prawn cake is genuinely  value for money with their thickness of chopped prawn per piece. Each bite is flavourful with the freshness of prawn. Orange curry is the village curry I always had at chiang rai, soupy with cauliflower and sliced. Lotsa herbs was blended and mixed into the soup. It was more like a soup that curry. It is probably the way thai name their dishes, because chiang rai people called it village curry rathe than village soup as well.   Overall, it was a good gastronomic experience. Their staff are friendly and willing to serve as well. Good place, good food, good PORN’S.

Write in to compliment some good work from s*** thai food management.

It’s my first visit to Pornsak (Local celeb) thai restaurant. I understand that the hype is over and it isn’t entirely novel to write about his restaurant. However, I still find the need to give praises when due. My friend and I ordered the Green Curry, Glass Noodle Salad, Prawn Cake and Pad Thai. The thick Green Curry with fragrance of coconut punch totally knocked me over. It is simply the best green curry I had for a long long while. The Glass noodle Salad is equally impressive, well tossed with fish sauce (my fav!) and roasted peanut, shallot, spring onion, palm sugar and calamasi with lotsa chili padi. Every mouthful carries a punch and an addiction you can’t get enough.   The prawn cake is consistently good, according to my friend who is a regular customer here. Big chunky prawn mixed into a paste flavoured with pepper and bread crumbs. Pad Thai is the sweet wet type which I love the most when I visit Thai street hawker in Bangkok. The presentation may need some improvement.   Overall, good meal with interesting art work on the wall, Thai pop music throughout, had a good dosage of Bird Thong Chai tonight. Sabai sabai, lol
