Family Dinner

Was told by my friends that there is a little known restaurant located at South Bridge road that serves a very nice dish called curry prawns or something like that. Since I love seafood so why not give it a try? Anyway, went there last Sunday with my family of 6. When I first reached there, I was a bit reluctant to go in as it was rather empty...only 1 table that was the usual mindset of no crowd equals no good.....but heck, since I am already there and everyone is hungry plus friends recommendation....just try lah....never try, never know!! So I ordered the curry prawns and upon the Indian captain recommendations, I ordered the XO fried rice, signature spare ribs, stir fried lotus roots, fried chicken in Sze Chuan style and the lobster steamed interesting point to note, the indian chap can actually speak chinese!!! The food came and yes, I am glad I went in, fortune favors the bold!! The curry prawn is really comes in a claypot with curry gravy...the gravy is a bit creamy and the taste is just wonderful...especially with the little fired mantous....I was told no water or coconut milk was used to cook it....but they refused to tell me what they used!! The lobster steam rice is very fragrant but a bit oily, the fried chicken is very nice since they used basil leafs and big chillis (both my favourite ingredients :) ....Spare ribs is soft and I my kids love the taste, a bit sweet....the XO fried rice is unlike what you eat at the zi chay store....they really put in good ingredients like "silver fish" etc...the stir fried lotus roots is a rather nice dish to me and I would say it taste fine :) Overall, I am satisfied and its not pricey..i think less then $200....thats reasonable considering we had lobster as well....ambience is good....very modern and comfortable....oh and yes, I was given the VIP room since no one was using it and i actually asked the indian chap for it :)

Was at Chinatown with family yesterday, walked past this restuarant called Sinstreet Gourmet. Decor looks nice and decided to give it a try.....Got recommeded the curry prawns, fried cod fish,XO fried rice and claypot herbal crab......

Must say the curry prawns is rather unique....thick sauce and the prawns are really fresh....was told they used "live" prawns.....

Fried cod fish is nice, I probably like it because it usese basil leaf as one of its main ingredients.....

As for the claypot herbal crab, you will like it if you like the traditional "herbal" taste....

Rice was okay for me but my parents seem to love it.....

Anyway, overall food was good....Ambience and decor really nice....Zen with a touch of Chinese traditions.....

Service was average, I guess it was because it was rather packed that night with tourists....saw quite a few Japanese and Chinese......

In short, food is good, ambience good, price reasonable....

will go there again.....i was given this lunch promo leaflet by the waiter and they got a pretty good deal....its something like 3 dishes, 1 soup, free flow soya/tea....for only $9.80 nett....OMG, where can you find this type of deal in a restaurant....guess I will make a walk down from my office soon....

Curry Prawns at its best!

was brought to this restaurant by a friend who recommended me to try their signature dish - curry prawn..... my first reaction of hearing curry prawn is....curry what?? Curry chicken yes...curry mutton yes....but curry prawn???

Honestly, the dish really didnt disappoint me....surprisingly a good mix. Huge prawns with generous serving of curry.

The waiter also suggested a couple of dishes for us to try - white pepper crabs, broccoli fried with scallops....was really surprised by the serving of scallops....scallops must be really cheap !?!?! Really fresh and tasty scallops

Other dishes that i have tried are the fried cod fish and pepper 8 years old boy loved the cod fish dish.

To sum up, a good place for affordable seafood and chinese food.

First and last experience. Bad service

Initially when we stepped into the restaurant, we were the only customers at 1pm (lunch time). We were not welcomed by the staff. As we looked very young, the staff looked at us as though we had no money to afford the dishes. But this is not the main point.

Well, we ordered our first pot of tea and shockingly the first cup of tea was not poured for us. We were expected to lift the hot pot of tea and serve ourselves. Bad service. The one incident that got us mad is when we saw our receipt. Appetizer was served and hence we thought it would be Foc, in fact it cost us $5.i hate to say but we felt we were scammed of $5. We were not told in the first place of its cost. We felt they could have informed us firsthand and not resort to such dirty tricks to charge us more.

So guys, beware of what they serve you especially an order you did not order.
