Welcome to the most established Peranakan restaurants in Singapore since 1953.
Many have come to love our nonya food which uses only the freshest ingredients and select choice of spices within the secret recipes handed down through the generations. We provide nonya catering for special occasions at offices and homes. We cater a wide choice of dishes at very reasonable prices. With many satisfied customers whom we have had the honor of catering to, we are confident that we will delight you and your friends with authentic Peranakan fare.
Whenever you think of Peranakan Food, think of Straits Chinese, Singapore's favourite Nonya restaurant.
Was recommended to try this out and wasn't disappointed. Favourite dishes were well prepared and the surprise was really the ngoh hiang which was big but surprisingly tender. Would come again.
Unless you are willing to pay $40 per head for average nonya food in an ordinary restaurant with not much ambience, do not visit this place.
When I was there, the restaurant was very empty. We tried quite a few dishes but nothing stood out. Even the dessert and drinks were small and unimpressive. I would probably be willing to pay at most $20 per pax for this standard of food. But to my surprise, the bill came up to $40 per person. I really hope they revise the prices soon. Otherwise I don't see how they are going to attract customers.
I was waiting for my friend here one evening and..... 3 tour buses full of China local tourists went in, and 2 came out.
so... this place is one of those used for tour groups....
friend finally arrived and we decided to take a look..
flipped through the menu and wow the prices :/ $12 for the smallest dish, and I wonder how small too!
the place is brightly lit, very commercialised looking...
we didn't eat here in the end.
1) the place catering to tour groups, we don't expect very good food...
2) price put us off.
maybe because there's not much business at night for cecil street area therefore they cater to tour groups.. and being in cecil street, therefore the price is sky high...
but noticing the menu had other locations, and what looks mostly like high rental areas... i think all the same = all expensive.
so up to you if you wanna try :/
