Great value for money

found this place through hungrygowhere, one of the few that had real reviews and not promoted by the restaurant themselves. I thought they deserved another real review. The food tasted above average and was not hastily prepared. Service was attentive and friendly. The menu was extensive, covering both north and south Indian food, which is welcome for typical greedy diners. The price? We were in for a pleasant surprise when we were given 20% off everything including set meals. There is currently a weekday lunch promotion ongoing, i hope that lasts forever. To top it off, they are child friendly and they're also awarded grade A on hygiene.

Disappointing food and staff attitude

We wanted to try a new restaurant and so we stopped here for dinner last night. We are vegetarians and so ordered only for vegetarian food. The stuffed parathas were oily and bland, the poories were made from Bhatura dough and were lifeless when served. The staff who served us had a superior attitude and looked very disinterested in anything we asked. We have vowed never to go back here again.

The mint 'lessi' was very salty and the mango 'lessi'was served warm until we asked for ice cubes.

The service staff when asked what they served with poories shrugged and said 'have to ask the chef'and only when we requested stepped in to find out. He took the payment with his left hand and handed the bill with his left hand and kept his eyebrows arched arrogantly when he looked at us. He didnt look the least bit interested in what we wanted.

My friend and I couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for so we just settled for 'Taste of India.' It really is a hidden gem.

We were there at around 5pm on a Sunday and it was really quiet. We were the only customers in the shop. The service was good, even though 2 out of the 3 people who served us weren't fluent in English.

The ambience was comfortable and the shop was very clean.

Tandoori Chicken (Half) $9.9

This was my friend's favorite dish of the meal. The meat was tender and the taste wasn't as overbearing as other tandoori chicken.

Cheese Naan $3.9

A bit too buttery for my liking and I felt that the cheese didn't taste obvious. Good thing is that the portion is quite large.

Chapati $1.3

Tastes like any normal chapati. Large portion.

Chicken Briyani $8.9

I liked the briyani rice a lot. The taste was light and easy on the stomach, especially when you're having many side dishes.

Rogan Josh (Mutton gravy) $8.9

This was my favorite! The meat cubes were very tender and almost melted in my mouth.
