Good chillout hipster spot

Hidden among apartments in theheartland of Tiong Bahru, it is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. From the outside, it looks like a regular unassuming cafe. But venturing in, the cafe extends further back totaling with 4 areas to choose from.
Visited the place twice as of now. Service remains unsmiling and occasionally unfriendly, with a rather obvious biasness towards foriegn diners...

As for the food and drinks...
Beef Shepards Pie ($9.90)
Ordered this both times I was there just cos its so delicious!!!!! Served with a side of salad and balsamic vinegrette dressing.

Chicken Stew ($10.90)
Yummy as well! Stew was thick and rich. Chose baguette slices as sides, which were toasted to perfection. And served with the same side salad as the above dish.

Strawberry Ice-Blend ($6)
Brainfreeze!!! Yummy and generous strawberry topping.

Chocolate Ice-Blend ($6)
Chocolately but nothing special.

Tea Selection (Ginger and Lemon) (~$6)
Good tea served in a samll cup, but you had to walk to the counter evertime you wanted a top-up of hot water. Even though top up is free. Its not very pleasant to keep needing to ask at the counter. A pot of hot water served with the cup of tea would have been better.

Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream- Single Scoop ($4)
Homemade, though not by Orange Thimble. Very thick, rich and creamy!!! Slightly sticky and "elastic" as well. Sea salt caramel taste was very yummy! Sinful!

Great place to get lost in a good book.

Relative spacious cafe with great ambience

I chose their OT American breakfast and I can't stop munching on their chunky sausage! You get to choose the choice of eggs: either sunny side-up or scrambled. Additional $2 for hard-boiled and $4.90 for omelette style (3 eggs). If you look carefully, hamburger buns are included so you can "build" your own burger with eggs/bacon/mushroom/sausage! The only downside is that grilled tomato. omg it's too sour to my liking!!!   P.S. The Orange Thimble is tax-friendly so there isn't any hidden charges! P.P.S. The cafe is relatively spacious so there isn't any problem for us to find a seat

Earl Grey ice cream with a twist

we ordered 2 scoops of the ice cream, Lychee and Earl grey with fig at $4 per scoop. I do suggest that if you are ordering 2 scoops of ice cream, please tell the scooper that you want it to be placed in a separate bowl or in the same bowl. Reason given that if placed together, it will be charged at $7.50 instead. The earl grey ice cream was quite unique as compare to the earl grey ice cream elsewhere. The addition of figs to the ice cream enhanced the taste with its nature sweetness.   For a full and detailed review ,please do view my blog http://hannahchia.tumblr.com

Cosy place, simple food, awful cakes

Went there today for late lunch , it was my first time there and I like the environment as every corner is considerably big enough for everyone to not feel packed even when all seats taken. It is a cosy place to spend your afternoon, and I began by ordering OT breakfast, cup of regular latte and a black forest.

The OT breakfast consists of 2 sunny-side up, 2 slice of bacon, 1 bratwurst sausage, baked beans and half tomato, sauteed mushrooms and a slice of dark-rye toast. It is something that can be easily prepared, nothing too special.

Coffee is decent, however it lacks the creaminess and silkiness that you normally get in latte. Black forest is sour and bitter in the odd way, not sure if it is over-rummed or spoil, got it replaced with Chocolate cheese cake which is more milky than cheesy. Their cakes are disappointment when there are so many good reviews on it.

Tea + Art

A nice shophouse cafe decorated with local art, every corner is different, definitely a nice place to chill out in. Can't say much for the food though, but i guess it's okay.
