Where art meets cafe – that’s The Orange Thimble for you.

As this was the 2nd Hazelnut Dacquoise we have tried, the element of surprise was lacking and we knew exactly what to expect from this dessert. A thick layer of chocolate fudge sandwiched between 2 layers of hazelnut meringue. The chocolate fudge was smooth, dense, with its richness enveloping our cavities. The hazelnut meringue exuded a faint nutty taste and complemented the fudge with its crunchiness. Overall, a decent dacquoise, which did not disappoint.

The Chocolate Therapy was less impressive. It was rather mediocre, a standard chocolate sponge and mousse cake. The base was meant to be crunchy and biscuit-like, but it turned out rather stagnant, possible due to over-exposure to the atmosphere. That caused the cake to be rather stale and unappetizing.

Nice Cosy Place But Don't Expect Service

If you are looking for a cosy place, this is it.
But expect service as the staffs can be quite rude and not attentive.

Was as there the third time, and this time got really upset when the Indian girl just came and said "we are closing soon, please leave", but it's more than half hour to closing time listed at the entrance :(

Good chillout hipster spot

Hidden among apartments in theheartland of Tiong Bahru, it is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. From the outside, it looks like a regular unassuming cafe. But venturing in, the cafe extends further back totaling with 4 areas to choose from.
Visited the place twice as of now. Service remains unsmiling and occasionally unfriendly, with a rather obvious biasness towards foriegn diners...

As for the food and drinks...
Beef Shepards Pie ($9.90)
Ordered this both times I was there just cos its so delicious!!!!! Served with a side of salad and balsamic vinegrette dressing.

Chicken Stew ($10.90)
Yummy as well! Stew was thick and rich. Chose baguette slices as sides, which were toasted to perfection. And served with the same side salad as the above dish.

Strawberry Ice-Blend ($6)
Brainfreeze!!! Yummy and generous strawberry topping.

Chocolate Ice-Blend ($6)
Chocolately but nothing special.

Tea Selection (Ginger and Lemon) (~$6)
Good tea served in a samll cup, but you had to walk to the counter evertime you wanted a top-up of hot water. Even though top up is free. Its not very pleasant to keep needing to ask at the counter. A pot of hot water served with the cup of tea would have been better.

Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream- Single Scoop ($4)
Homemade, though not by Orange Thimble. Very thick, rich and creamy!!! Slightly sticky and "elastic" as well. Sea salt caramel taste was very yummy! Sinful!

Great place to get lost in a good book.
