| Good place for drinks but restaurant was dissapointing
This is a great place to just chill and have a few drinks and enjoy the lounge music.
However the restaurant experience was below expectations. If you are charging these kind of prices you'd better make sure that what you deliver justifies the prices. We were given the menus however the menus were different from each other. Also the menus were like a bible. It took us 30 minutes to go through them. And they were hard to read as the lights were too dim. This is the case in a lot of places. I ordered the cured salmon, and the duck confit as well as the tiramisu. The appetizer was quite small and not interesting. Flavours were blend and the presentation was average. The duck confit was luke warm and it did not have a sauce. The vegetables were just boiled thats was it nothing else was done with them. They looked as if they were from a pack of frozen "WATTIES" vegetables.
The Tiramisu was average as well. I expected for the price I paid that the whole experience would be a bit more interesting.
Service was also nothing special. Other than taking the order and serving our meals you did not see a waiter come to your table. |

| Excellent Ambience - Excellent Food
I throughly enjoyed my first trip to Angel's Share. It's hidden in the corner of Dempsey Hill and I heard about it through a friend's recommendation.
When I walked in I was surprised that such a beautiful outdoor space was here. It was very relaxing and I could happily sit there for hours.
There was a live band and DJ which really added to the atmosphere.
The food was fantastic. We had some 'small plates' which were in fact very big and great value for money. I would highly recommend the calamari!
Overall it was very reasonably priced and I would definitely go back again! |

| Must Tries: calamari, extensive wine list, any of the small plates |

| A not so peaceful anniversary
We were there just yesterday having our quiet anniversary night dinner. The ambient was quiet, the food and wine can be better but what shocked us was the commotion that was going on. Apparently the owner of the place owes the supplier some money and they have not been paying up on time.
I can understand why the supplier was angry but im not sure if i would like to patronize a place where it treats its supplier like that. For all you know we are getting second grade food and wine because of the late payments.
So quite a mix feeling about this place |

| I beg to differ
If the management is trying to convince you that all the wine in the cellars are stored proper, try to go observe the condensation from the cellar even when they have double vacuum glass. Doesn't make sense.
And the standing wines are merely for display? I hope when you order your wines it won't come from the "display" row. |

| Appalling Wine and Service
After reading the reviews here i went to check this place out since i'm a big wine fan myself.
The whole idea of having your wine paired with your food is very trendy these past few years.
To my consternation, the wooden wine chiller is a joke as every wine guy would know that wood is porous and would cause condensation within the wine chiller.
And to my horror you have wine bottles being stored lying down, this obviously would affect the wine content as it age on its side as compared to having it rest tilted.
I wouldn't get into the fundamental reasons why its bad as supposedly the owner is a wine connoisseur himself.
After settling down, it took ages for my wine to reach the table and they serve it way too chill making me wait further as wine taste bests between 14-16 degrees celcius as oppose to
6 degrees celcius. The server had the audacity to tell me that this is how wine should be serve.
Now this intrigues me further, being a wine place obviously the strictest of standards has to be met to optimise the aging of the wine, i see none of these being met. Even La Forketta, an italian restaurant across the road takes pride in storing their wine and they are well known for their pastas not wine.
For consolation they serve very good calamari so the next time if you're thinking of eating calamari and would like to be seen in a wine drinking place try AngelShare.
Skip the wine and try the calamari. |

Management Response: 6 Sep 2008
Firstly Thank You for the comments, feedback and observation. We at Angel's Share take great pride in our wines. It's true we have one of the few wooden cellar in Singapore. Time, pain, resources and effort had been spent in planning and constructing this cellar. If you at inside this cellar, you will find it being reinforced internally and all glasses double vacuum tempered that there will not be any condensation of any sort. I would like to apologise for the standing bottles, they are the first layers of bottles more for display, we have close to 700 labels about 3500 bottles and 90% of the bottles are lying down peacefully waiting to be indulged in the best way. The cellar is kept at a friendly 12-14 degree as compared to some cellar maintained at 8-11 degree. This will ensure all bottles served will not get into massive shock when wines are served at our room temperature. I would be more than happy to show you around the cellar, again I thank you for the observation and comments. Allow me to reiteirate that we love and take great pride in our wines so that all wines consumed will be indulged in the best way possible. Cheers always to good wines. |
