This place can be quite busy in the evening so come early.
The food is nice and not so expensive.
The plus is it is open 24h!

Spit-and-sawdust surroundings, only average food, terrible service and slightly expensive prices - hard to recommend, I'm afraid.

DON'T mix up this restaurant with the one in Sunshine Plaza. FOOD are HORRIBLE, OILY & SALTY!!

FOOD WERE HORRIBLE, OILY and SALTY. It's just PRE-PACKED FOOD that heat it up for you to eat!

I just visited this place for lunch with my colleague in the afternoon. The business there seems pretty good but we didn't expect the food were so horrible and yet people still visiting this place for lunch!

We ordered green curry pork with rice and stir fry basil leaves with pork that came together with rice. Usually these 2 dishes won't go wrong in anywhere that serves Thai food. However, to our surprise, the 2 dishes were anyhow cooked and served to us and they tasted awful!!!

First of all, the whole restaurant seems to be run by foreign workers, from waiter, waitress to kitchen staffs and the cook (not sure if he knows how to cook) are all foreign workers. Well, that's not an issue if the food were good. the basil leaves pork came out to be stir fry chopped long beans with pork. It is not only super oily, but also taste horrible. We only saw perhaps 5 to 6 basil leaves, basically can count using fingers. well, we were hoping that the green curry would be ok since the first dish came out was horrible but we were so wrong!!! The green curry pork with rice came out to be green curry paste stir fry with pork and MIXED with white rice!! OMG....

We were expecting a bowl of green curry serve with plain rice but it came out to be a green curry stew on top of white rice and what makes it worse is some of the curry paste not fully melted, it was a bit lumpy and it was super salty! Who doesn't know how to cook if just pour out the pre-packed curry, mix with a bit of water and pour on top of white rice?! With this kind of quality of food can still open a restaurant is really amazing! what makes it more amazing is: people still go there and eat and their business seem not bad!!!

I would say give this restaurant a miss. Definitely waste your time and money! Anywhere else is better than this!

Massacre of Engine Oil, MSG and All Things Thai

I try my best to avoid this Aroy Dee Thai Kitchen near Selegie as best as I can. Unless it is with friends, colleagues or due to its proximity to Selegie. Dreadful food cooked with engine oil, MSG-haven and leaves you thirsting for barrels of water, and the furthest thing from what you can call Thai. Devoid of the Thai soul. Only saving grace is its reasonable price.

Have tried several times over the past couple of years. Always left me with MSG-coma and oily diarrhea. Price-wise was okay, but not for value. There are tons of eateries around it that offer better, more authentic Thai food at cheaper prices and larger portions.

Chefs are either Malaysians, Banglas or PRCs. Easy to see who's cooking your Thai fare as there is this square window that shows the chefs at work tossing the wok and stuff. Bad thing is that you will learn to question their hygiene as you watch them do gross stuff from your seat. Dubious and unappetising.

Notable mentions

Pineapple Fried Rice: Miserable with just rice and nothing much else. Worse, spammed with overly intense yellow-colouring that it seemed so fake. Tiny, 2-3 frozen mini-shrimps get thrown into the sea of orange-yellow and got lost there. Nothing much else to wolf down.

Green Curry: Green terror, fake-looking green colouring overdose. Aroy Dee Thai Kitchen has this pernicious habit of trying too hard to make their fake Thai dishes look authentic. Hence the liberal dousing of fake colouring. Salty, watery and flat. You wonder if this is green soup or green curry. I have never ordered this dish since trying it 2 years ago.

Phad Kway Teow: Swims in oil. So much black soya sauce and MSG that a lake of water probably won't be able to quench your thirst after that. The bean sprouts looks sad, shrivelled, yellow and unplucked. Taste like it was barely washed. Black and disgusting.

Phad Thai: the only saving grace perhaps. Same bean sprouts issue as above. Watery as if the glass noodles are an island surrounded by water on the dull, black square plate.

Drinks: ice and packaged concentrate. Nothing else. So much crushed ice and so little of the actual stuff. Applies to the ice tea and lemongrass I had. After drinking, the plastic container is still like 3/4 full of ice. So bland without body or flavour. Avoid at all cost.

Food gets served fast as it is seldom crowded during lunch or dinner time. But the eatery does have some loyal customers who digs its totally un-Thai, oily, salty, very PRC-like style of Thaicuisine.

Quick Service, No Fuss, Value for Money, Not Bad at all

Came here on Sunday for late lunch (3 adults, 2 young adults & 1 toddler). Ordered usual stuff of mango salad, chicken green curry, olive rice, minced beef basil, fish cake & sweet & sour fish. Service was quick, food came out hot. The salad, green curry & minced beef were our favourite. The fish was crispy & tasty but I found the sauce is a little too sweet. Overall food is not bad at all and it's value for money considering they have options on the size of the dish (small, medium, large). Will be happy to come back to quick lunch when I'm in that area.
