Delicious smahed chicken

I decided to patronise the shop because there was a 10% promotion off the ayam penyat set. The set comes with rice, a piece of cabbage, a chx breast, cucumber n sambal chilli n the highlights are the crispy 'floss'. The chicken is very crispy n I love the sambal chilli...too bad they gave too little. The crispy 'floss' is quite unique. I think it is made up of some seasoned flour or something.
Oh yes, the set also comes with tofu tempeh but it was sold out when i ordred so i got keropok instead...but it was nice.

Not bad, Not great

My hub loves ayam penyet. Or should I say chicken in general. Oh well. I decided to hunt down a nice ayam penyet place for him and found this on hungrygowhere.

There was a queue when we got there. However, we didn't have to wait too long. The food is reasonably priced. We were given paper and pencil to write down our orders. They didn't inform us that we have to bring the slip to the cashier to make our orders as well as make our payment. However, the people there all seems to be regular customers and know that the procedure is such.

I wanted the avocado drink but it is sold out! The food there seems to sell out quite fast. I was ordering another drink half an hour later and notice that 3 of their food items are sold out as well.

The chicken is a little dry but tasted pretty nice with the crispy thing that comes along with it. The chilli is really spicy! It is nice that it came with tahu and tempe.

The indonesian fish cake didn't taste like anything special. It tasted like taiwan's "tian bu la". Nothing great. So i suggest that you do not order.

We saw this pink drink that sooo many people are ordering and decided to order it as well. The staff told us that it is happy soda. What an interesting name for the drink. Anyway, it tasted like ice-cream soda. Not bad.

The ice chendol is alright. Not enough gula malacca I think. And it does not come with Kachangs.

Service is the usual coffee shop kind of service. They are mainly service food. Not bad or anything. In fact, they are pretty efficient.

Fish over chicken

I actually went to this place 2 days in a row...only coz I had to find out why its always so crowded!

On the first visit, I had to go for the house specialty..Ayam Penyet. I had high expectations coz I thought you can't really go very wrong with fried chicken. I like that it comes with tempe, fried tofu and kangong...and that the chilli basically numbs my lips enough and gives it an instant lip plump. The chicken ..well, like I said, you can't go wrong.

Day 2, I ordered the chicken soto with tang hoon and the fried pomfret set. I much prefer the fish over the chicken. Fish is meaty and moist..not over fried and dry.

As for dessert, the chendol is rather dissppointing. Only had the wormy green jelly bits and no other kacang. The avocado juice is worth a go though.

Great eat

Was wondering around Lucky Plaza with my helper and found only 3 places serving Filipino food, 2 look quiet decent and I quite dingy. Since we had lunch and it is around 4pm, we decided to check out one of the 3-4? Indonesian ayam penyet outlets.

The ayam penyet ria on the 4th floor looks most appealing with it's tidy and not so cramp layout. Here's the run down on what we consumed:

Es Kacang Hijau - good mix of green bean and gula melaka
Es Campur - my helper had this, with some banana, coconut strips... and it will taste like halo halo
Tahu-Tempe - really deliciois and my wife loved the sambal

Service was quite fast, cause the restaurant is less then half filled on Sat at 4pm.

Will be back again for the ayam penyet!

Must Tries: Tahu-Tempe, Es Kacang Hijau
