This is a great hidden gem in Singapore. A small and very comfortable space off a an alley (or downstairs from a hotel) that is focused on doing a few things incredibly well. At it's heart it's a whiskey bar with a very long list that you'll have to work hard to explore, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and an option to buy bottles and store them on site. If whiskey isn't your thing, cocktails are generally very good. If all you had was a lovely bar with great staff and good whiskey I'd already be pretty happy, but then you add fantastic jazz to the mix as well. And this is not background music, Great jazz isn't exactly thick on the ground here in Singapore so I'm thrilled that I can combine a wonderful bar with fantastic music.
Quite frankly, I don't really want you to come here. I prefer it quiet. Not much change of that though.
Come here for the JAZZ - expect to pay a cover charge
Come here for whisky's - don't be afriad of asking for recommendations
Come here for cocktails - expect expert mixologists!
Rather costly, but worth the experience.
A perfect 10. Night out with the girls? First date? Jazz aficionado? This is your place. Between the never ending whiskey list, perfectly crafted and thoughtful cocktails, and music that will make you forget about time, this place has it all.
And make sure you have a chat with Farhan, the bartender. His knowledge and passion come through in the most tantalizing cocktails that will not just leave you satisfied, but asking for (many) more.
Good value for money at this hidden gem. Will definitely be back.
B28 is a fantastic basement bar in the middle of Ann Siang Hill. Always has great jazz on a weekend night; fantastic array of whiskies and perfect ambience. It's a great place to go for a few quiet drinks and to chill with some friends.
This bar is the best kept secret in Singapore which is why I am slightly unsure about reviewing since the club is not so big and I still want to be able to get a seat at weekends!
I have taken many friends and family here and they all enjoy the intimate atmosphere of the jazz club when the house band are playing at the weekends. The jazz band are truly fantastic.
The cocktails are very good and in particular one called the Old Fashioned. However , I am a whisky nut and the choice available for single drams or whole bottle (if you become a member you get your own whisky cupboard) is as good as any other whisky bar in Singapore. I got a bottle of Auchentosan 1978 and we are drinking very slowly and carefully over many weekend trips to B28.
One piece of advice if you are planning a visit over the weekend. Get there early and definitely before 10PM if you want to get a seat. I should also add that the service from Farhan and the young lady at the bar is exceptional and always with a smile.
