This is a not an 8-second restaurant.

Food was good, service was discreet, wine perfect.  While the steak was not as good as Bedrock's (but it was still very good & and the presentation was better), the ambiance is streets ahead.  Again, very good to go out and not be interrupted every eight seconds.

I put Broth and Bistro du Sommelier in the same league.

Broth, I must applaud, has the best service standards by far in comparison to many of the f&b establishments I've gone to in Singapore.

Don't miss out on their desserts which are wonderful (I'm a sucker for sweets as I have a sweet tooth!)!

Must tries: Sticky Date Pudding, Pavlova, Classic Apple Tart

Another great dining place around Tanjong Pagar area not to be missed. Scrummy spread of authentic Aussie and fusion selections to satisfy our palates. Damn they changed the menu recently and took out my all-time favourite bruschetta, replacing it with an equally tantalising potato gnocchi. Service has always been unbelievably efficient and friendly.

Must tries: Bring back the bruschetta!

First of all, finding this place gets one talking (Where on earth is Duxton Hill?). Once you set foot on it, where else in Singapore can you find cobbled-stoned street and conservation shophouses? When you see the service staff, where can you find servers wearing bling bling belts bearing their names? :D

Even the name is so interesting, where by BROTH is taken off the abbreviation of Bar Restaurant On The Hill, as highlighted by one of the amicable staff (although Duxton Hill doesn't exactly fit into the definition of a hill but nice idea there!)

Initially, thinking that it's their broth we shouldn't miss out on, my friends and I decided to order their soup of the day and it was really rich and yummilicious! The foie gras was also really well prepared although it's a tad too small to be shared amongst friends.

Their braised pork pasta was flavourful but lacks the bite of probably a lil more garlic and the signature lamb loin (again mentioned by the staff and after reading all the reviews) was not a letdown! Keep up the good work!

Must tries: Broth, Lamb Loin, Sticky Date Pudding

Dearie brought me to Broth which he raved about ever since he had his corporate dinner there. You can feel the exclusivity when you step on the street of Duxton Hill, not as "commercialised" as Dempsey or One Rochester?

Food wise, we ordered the signature baby spinach and mrooms salad (although I'm not so much of a salad person) and their scallops (cream-based)..if only we had more scallops, it would have been near perfect! We had to settle for their pasta of the day (still good tho) as we were told their signature lamb loin was sold out over lunch! :(

I must say service is tip top and you can feel their warmth and sincerity! Only regret is not getting to try the lamb but well... :)

    Must tries: Scallops, Pavlova

As an expatriate living in Singapore for many years, I must say I swear by Broth. It's like a hidden gem sitting atop Duxton Hill. The facade of a colonial shophouse and cobbled-stoned street certainly added more points + personality to this establishment.

Special mention goes to the service rendered by the staff. Warm smiles, great attitude and humourous. Even their recommendations of the signature dishes were spot-on!

The air-conditioning can be quite cold at times though. :)

I came late, compared to the rest of the group who had already ordered. I had to ask 3 times to get someone to take my order, and about 5 times more, for a glass of water. This was during lunch where they weren't even fullhouse.

I ordered the ravioli, which was too salty, dry, and underwhelming (not considering the overwhelming saltiness). The appetizers were decent, though.

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday while at the Wine trade show in Duxton as we were both starving.

There were a couple of hundred people in the street so the place should have been packed.....it wasn't.

Better half ordered Eggs Benedict (always looking for the World's best), I thought I would give the Linguini with Bacon etc a go.
The Pasta arrived not cooked and a wee bit crunchy...never a good sign, debated if to send it back or not due to hunger but decided to call the waiter.....Eggs bendict yet to arrive!
Waiter trotted off to whip up a new one....about 10 mins later Eggs benedict arrived STONE COLD.

Linguini arrived 10 min, or so later it was cooked fine but very average, by this time due to Hunger EB was consumed and plate taken , sauce was pretty good.

Cost for this $75.00 including Crown Lager (4).

If this get's read by the owner.

    Please.

1 Train your staff to deliver food together and clean plates together.
2 If food is supposed to be hot, serve it hot.
3 Buy a kitchen timer or read the time of cooking pasta off the box.

Come on guy's how hard is it?

BTW the food score reflects that the beer was cold and sauce ok.

    Must tries: Crown Lager

Broth is an attempt to create an Aussie bistro with a Gastro feel. The menu is quite unimaginative and the wines too. That would be fine if the food was excellent, but unfortunately, the food is not good.
The butter was not 100% fresh, I strongly suspect my filet to be frozen, the tomato coulis tasted like a $1 tin from Carrefour.
The foie gras however was nice.
The service was good, the location great, but it did not quite make it and it was rather pricey.

The spinach and portobello mushroom salad came with a pleasant raspberry vinaigrette.

The makerel was very average. The waiter told us it was seabass, only to say he ''made a mistake'' when the food was served. It came with 2 miserable, dried up pieces of brocoli and ''fried noodle''. The fried noodle is a woeful attempt at being too clever. It looked like a lump of uncooked instant noodle and was impossible to break or eat unless you use your hand. It's meant to be garnish? If it is, then what a waste, and where is the carbo for the mains?

The apple tart was ok, though not spectacular.

We were the only table at lunch. Now I know why it's so empty, despite all the hype and ''rave reviews''.
