Buttercake n Cream is a tasteful bistro at Sunset way, ideal for dessert lovers and diners alike. We western and modern Italian fare like soups, main courses like burgers, sandwiches, pastas, and entrees from the grill and oven. Desserts which complement our premium coffee are served as well, so come have a dining experience with us today. We can also organise private dinner functions and birthday parties.
Just walked by looking for a place to have dinner and decided to stop at this small restaurant... looks decent... mainly drawn in by the dessert images they have... we were introduced to the Set Dinner for 2 and chosen the
1) wild mushroom soup - nice, doesn't have the heavy creamy smell which i can't tolerate
2) grilled pork collar - (didn't know what it was and what to expect but turned out to be a pleasant surprise) the best of all the 4 dishes. juicy, tender and tasty
3) roasted bbq chicken leg - pretty normal
4) chocolate fondue - the chocolate is good, doesn't taste like those lousy cheap chocs
Best part is that the main dish doesn't come with any carbos "mash or bake potatoes or fries"...
The portion is not big that you'll be stuffed up but sufficiently satisfied.
Service and price is reasonable although the desserts are pricey....
the cakes are really good so do the drinks. :) i like the setting of the cafe even its out of the way for people who doesnt drive, luckily my friend has car. the food here is good. we tried the spaghetti but mainly likes th lava cake and the malt cake.
Had the set lunch there today. Not terribly impressed at all. Ordered the Delish Beef Stew Duck with Pear set. Both dishes were extremely salty. Duck was so salty it was inedible so it was left uneaten. The starter - Wild Mushroom Soup - was okay. As the second dish was not consumed, there wasn't enough food so we ordered Gaarlic Bread and Truffle Fries. Both were average and unimpressive. At least the Earl Grey Tea was hard to get wrong.
Customer service is not bad. The waitress tried to make up for it by giving us a cake instead of the ice-cream on the set menu.
Still, it would be hard to convince me to go back. Hopefully, something good happens.
