I spent about S$30 per person

It's ok if you don't mind horrid service and waiting 2 hours for your food.

I was here last night to have dinner and watch the Pool-Man Utd game. We ordered our food and drinks at 740pm. It was an hour plus before the first person got their food, and 2 hours before the last person got theirs. The beer we ordered didn't arrive at all, a friend had to go in and get it for the rest of us.

The table next to us clapped sarcastically when their food finally arrived.

In the meantime, they twice served us food that we didn't order, and when we asked the waitress what the dish was to confirm we didn't order it, she looked at us blankly and just brought back the dish to the kitchen.

When it came to the bill, they tried to charge us full price for the beer we ordered eventhough their banner said it was happy hour. The waiter then said that it did not apply for that day, eventhough there is nothing on the banner to say that. We didn't want to pay the service charge as well , but he kept arguing and in the end a friend just decided to pay and get out of there.

This is possibly the worst dining experience I have encountered in a long time. If they were overwhelmed by the football crowd they should have either anticipated it or at least tell us that the food will take 2 hours to arrive.

Regarding the food, some of the dishes were cold, the rest were average although our appetites were pretty much spoiled by the rotten service so that is a big factor. I ordered the Kufte Pananas if I remember correctly, it wasn't anything great.

Eat here at your own risk.

Click along

Good place for serious brainstorming. Needed to pick the brains of a old friend and this was just the place to spend an afternoon. Quiet, almost sleepy place in the afternoon. But the whole courtyard is pretty.

Karisik Meze Tabagi (menu says quintessential Mediterranean Flavours, sample for 2 persons) was recommended so we obediently ordered that. If you attack it fast, it's much more yummy..but we dragged along and talked so much, the food got a bit limp. Good display and variety. Us 2 ladies have small appetites. I chose Roasted Lamb (Turkish) for main dish. But on hind sight, the set lunch with Mousakka Tea would have been more filling if one was really hungry: Lamb was a total of 3 thin slices, but sauce was different.

Can't remember what my friend ordered.

Great Chicken Wraps

For a long time reviewer Panerai has been recommending that I try the food here which he had been patronising for the last few years - specifically the Chicken Doner Wrap. However, as I am rarely in the area, I have been putting this aside until recently. The irony is that I had already eaten a sumptious lunch. However, when I was in the area in the mid-afternoon, I realised that it does not close between lunch and dinner so I decided to finally try the Chicken Wrap as I am not sure when I will ever have a chance again.

The setting was a darkish restaurant with some Turkish plates and pictures around. The place played music that sounded like some prayers so as I was facing inward, it really made me feel that I was lost in translation in a foreign land.

Despite being full, I enjoyed the Chicken Doner Wrap immensely. It has to be one of the better chicken wraps that I have eaten and I am not mincing my words here. I can understand how this guy has been doing so well for the last ten years, serving authentic Turkish fare in both Rendezvous Hotel and at Robertson Walk. The oozing mix of mayonaise and roasted chicken flavours of the wrap together with the tender chicken made me want to have more despite being full. In fact, thinking about it now is making me feel hungry for more.

I cannot comment much about the service since I ate at such an odd hour that I was one of the only customers there so things went smoothly as I would expect.

I enjoyed myself and look forward to returning for more in the near future. Thanks Panerai for the recommendation to this hidden find.

Terrible first experience

I had a craving for a kebab, and Robertson Walk happened to have this Turkish restaurant with newspaper reviews plastered all over the door, so we sat down for a quick bite.

Shared a Kebab Iskender, which must have been the worst I have ever had. The chicken was stir-fried with texture similar to what one might find from microwaving it. It was so salty that McDonald's fries tasted like congee in comparison. The horrible after taste lingered long after it was washed down with the ice water served.

The "bed" of pita bread was nothing more than burnt cubes of what seemed like toasted Focaccia. I have had better croutons in a salad.

Couldn't bear to finish it. Will not be going back anytime soon.

OK sort of place

I haven't been here for a while, the last time being when they were still upstairs where Sage is now. Came here today as I had a Middle Eastern guest who did specify "halal" - Cappadocia serves halal food but has no halal cert as they serve alcohol.

FOOD
Iskander Kebab - looked OK although basically what you got was a skewer and a bit of veg Abotu $15

Roast Lamb - I had this - it was reasonably tender, the sauce was OK, and came with nicely grilled capsicum, potato, tomato and veg. Not a huge serving, probably 150g of meat. $18.90

Pilaf and beef patty (can't remember the turkish name) with fries.

AMBIENCE
Good if you like outdoors dining although can get hot during lunch.

SERVICE
OK, nothing great but no complaints.

VALUE
For the price, servings were not large at all. Ice water served
