Of Heavy Soups and Sandwiches
Jul 15, 2009I had a coffee break here yesterday. While this open concept looks a little "too open", there is actually sufficient spaces for private conversations.
The soups though are really thick and heavy, with the intense use of ingredients. However, I am a bigger fan of clearer and simple soups, so many of them do not stand out to me.
Where I think this place will do well is to target parents who send their kids to class at United Square as they now have a comfortable place to read their papers and while waiting for their children. Well, I know at least that is the case for Panerai :)Spent about

Decent sandwiches & coffee !
Jul 5, 2009I've been to Cedele at United Square on afew occasions. First trip there, ordered their moroccan spiced carrot soup which is quite good...another point to note is their soup is healthy as compared to others due to not containing any cream etc.
Next ordered their smoked salmon sandwich...a point to note that if you wonder what sort of bread to choose for any of your sandwiches while at Cedele...the default choice should be their ciabatta bread...coz it's really good ! Ok...now back to the smoked salmon...it's of premium quality and the leaves that comes with it are fresh as well.
I also tried their ham and cheese sandwich...again with ciabatta bread... and it's also afew notches better tasting than other similar servings.
And not forgetting their coffee...in particular their cafe latte gets my thumbs up as well !
All in all with a decently cozy ambience.... and food that is fresh and tasty enough....no wonder Cedele is not short of fans in this country.Must Tries
soup of the day, smoked salmon, ham and cheese sandwich

For forgiving people...
May 11, 2009My family lunched at this outlet after trekking one day. Hunger and fatigue usually make people appreciate food more than usual, unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our meal very much (despite the cosy ambiance)
Because this outlet opened recently(I think we were there on the first or 2nd day of its opening), there were some screw-ups in terms of serving/food quality.
Took the wrong order... forgot to serve a dish... served the wrong dish... served cuppa WITHOUT coffee/milk (erm, in order words, served an entire cup of FOAM, no joke)...
Ridiculous. But luckily, the service staff were really nice people and apologized for the mistakes and took the initiative to correct the wrongS (note: plural).
Food wasn't really good. We had the sandwich set. Sis had chicken tarragon soup - a clear soup - which she didn't really love, and she didn't comment about the shrimp & avocado sandwich she had either, meaning it's not impressive. I had the smoked salmon with yogurt dressing sandwich, smoke salmon is always nice, and I happen to like yogurt. But the bread is not toasted and when everything is put together, I can't really bring myself to say I enjoyed what I was eating. The best I would say is the food is "ok, lor".
Mom totally hated what she had - clam chowder & thai salad sandwich. She claimed that Mos Burger's corn soup is even better than the chowder here, unfair comparison, since they are different soups altogether, but if she is comparing the soup here with that of a fast food chain, that doesn't speak very well of the soup. She also didn't like the fact that the bread is not crispy and fluffy. Okay fine, mom and I are fans of Canele's breads, so OTHER breads are always not as good.
Dad ordered some Dijon beef sandwich of some sort, and roasted veg soup. The soup is a bit sourish... so he didn't really like it. I tried it too and am unimpressed. It's not not nice though, just not impressive. Sandwich was, as usual, disappointing. He didn't even bother to finish it, despite his hunger.
To be fair, I think the soups at Cedele are usually fine. I love the Moroccan Spiced Carrot Soup, Apple Pumpkin Soup, and Pumpkin Soup. Lovely. My family just happened to order the wrong soups that day I guess.
But although we didn't enjoy our main course and soups, most of us liked the little nonsense we had after meal. Dad thought the coffee was decent, sis and I loved the blueberry cheesecake ice cream (there are biscuit crumbs in it!! just like real cheesecake!!!) and the sea salt caramel ice cream... NICE!
Only mom had a terrible time trying to figure out why her cuppa is but a full cup of foam. She got the person to make her another cup. But she didn't really enjoy her new cup of cuppa either, maybe the foam made her sick already.Spent about
