What a joke!!! Save your money.
17 Nov 2012If you are in the need of making yourself (or whomever is going to pick up the check) seriously angry - go to Chatterbox. $25 for a not-so-large portion of chicken rice. Go to Boon Tong Kee or any hawker center for that matter. There are much better places at a fraction the price.
I'm embarrassed now to say that I've actually been there. It is so shameful that they charge this much for Singapore's most basic of staples. Don't fill the owner's pockets with 1 more cent - go anywhere but here.

Not value for money!
28 Oct 2012For full review and photos, please visit: http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2012/09/chatterbox-mandarin-hotel.htmlWe have always wanted to try the famous chicken rice at Mandarin Hotel after hearing it from people that a set of chicken rice costs $25 there. I mean, there must be something special about the chicken rice for people to be paying almost 5 times the market price for it.
So, here we are! Do not expect too much of the ambience as it feels like a ordinary restaurant without much decorations and ambience. We actually thought it looked more like a typical food court.

Not worth for $27 chicken rice
23 Sep 2012yes, prices have increased to $27 for chicken rice.
bought a groupon deal for $20 worth of $40 foods. was skeptical of buying the deal due to bad reviews here but just had to try how " nice " the chicken rice was and was like the rest greatly disappointed.
the meat was tough and oily but the soup was nice and tasted herbal.
also tried the lobster laksa at a whopping $36. it was better than the chicken rice . not very spicy but at the end of the day minus the lobster it was just a very ordinary bowl of laksa.
ambience wise, the plastic green chairs makes it look like a high class food court. doesn't feel like a restaurant at all.
really not worth trying out stuff at this place, even with discounts and deals. its a one time off affair for me
