| Power Pack~!
What can I say?! The restaurant is packed with good service, great ambiance, fabulous food and excellent sense of pride in what they are doing.
I made a reservation for my friend's birthday treat at Chop-S-Tick yesterday (4th October 2008). We reached at around 8pm and we were very surprised as it's not an usual Indian restaurant that one may expect. The place was wonderfully decorated and the service was excellent despite the fact that we had some miscommunication along the way especially on the confusion on the set dinner where we could only choose either dessert or tea but one of my friend and I chose both and the waiter took the later. We waited for our dessert and to be surprised that we actually could only choose one of the two. But as not to disappoint the both of us, the waiter said that he will gave us the dessert for free. Not only were the dessert free, we were also given a complimentary tandoori chicken from the chef when the rest of my friends were waiting for their main course. When one of my friends who also ordered the set dinner with me, we were served with soup first while the rest waited because the chef cooked in order of soup, main course and dessert. The food served were placed as what you normally would expect in an Italian restaurant where food were placed artistically and the plates were normally decorated with gravy.
Another surprising fact was that when we entered the restaurant, there were these "chinese love letter" looking snack which serves as finger food and it was not charged to our bill.
Some of my friends find the food salty but I think it's based on personal preference. For me, the food is great. I had this really wonderful experience at Chop-S-Tick and I will definitely return.
At the end of our dinner, the chef cum general manager came out and check with us if the food were alright and gave us his name card and told us that if we were to have any more gathering or functions, he can arrange for a private room.
What is shocking is that, the total bill was $150 for 8 pax and everyone had the stomach filled.
PS: I found Chop-S-Tick on HungryGoWhere.com |

| Should have taken the reviews here with a big soup spoon of salt
Well,
It goes to show that alot of reviews lately at HGW are biased and are made by clones or supporters of the restaurant. Was kind of skeptical of the reviews and i am proven right. While the restaurant is alright it doesn't warrant the 9++ scores.
Was quick shocked at the restaurant layout, the tables are rather minimal then again we are the 2nd table when we arrived. The 1st table was a couple. And later followed by a 3 guys and another pair of couple. Ambience-wise is quite ok, nothing too fancy and each patron will have plenty of space to themselves.
Had a quick dinner tonight with gf. Without referring to the receipt, remember we had the vegetarian platter, some tandoori chicken, some yogurt with cucumber and tomato and fish curry with naan. Was disappointed at no fish or prawns when i inquired about them. The indian menu wasn't too extensive and the western menu is something reminiscent from a school cafeteria. Quickly set down the menu and decided to order just the indian food instead.
On the indian food, typical food quality one that can easily find along race course road. Nothing spectacular here.
Service is alright, greeted with smiles and they said their goodbyes.
Good thing is no GST and service charge and i was given a 20% discount. Total bill is only 38, so there's isn't much to complain about! Parking is ok with a parking lot next to it and i could find a slot almost immediately. |

| A true Gem
Chop-s-tick has recently opened in Joo Chiat. Initially I thought it was a Chinese Cuisine, little that I realise she was serving North Indian Cuisines.
The Ambience
The Ambience was perfect, it had the setting of a fine dining but does not give you that uptight and highly formal feeling you usually get in fine dining restaurants. It had the chill factor and I felt it was a skilful combination from whoever who designed the interior.
Food / Beverage
I tried the set, it was perfect with great value for money. Chicken was soft, tender and tasty and every other dish I had was very well done. It cost me just under $12 for a 3 course set I believe. Most restaurants situated in town would have cost abt 20+, not forgetting I was not charged GST & Service charge. It was awesome. I ordered the Naan as well, the cheese naan wa sjust simply perfect, it was soft with the cheese oozing from within, and the garlic naan was just nice, not over garliced, if you know what I mean.
Service
Service is something I am usually very particular abt, I think it was alright, servers were warm, friendly & polite.
I will be back for more =) |
