| High-tea, anybody?
My first visit to Coffee Club and it was a good experience. I went there for sort of a high-tea session and had only coffee and cakes there. But I’m sure I’ll be back there for more. :)
There are tons of choices of coffee and deciding to be adventurous, I ordered a Tiramisu Coffee to share with my friend (she doesn’t drink coffee - what a pity, isn’t it? ;) ) while my coach ordered a regular black coffee. The coffee is served in one tall glass with different layers (top photo). If I’m not wrong, there’s a Marsala wine layer, one black coffee layer and two milk layers, topped with chocolate shavings. The taste is unique. The coffee doesn’t taste like the tiramisu dessert but the blend between the coffee and the Marsala wine is unique and nice. :D
As for my all time favourites - cakes - my friend and I take some time before deciding those two cakes. I can’t remember the names of it, but I’m quite sure the right one is a mango cheesecake, with real mango slices on top. The cheese flavour is not as heavy as normal cheesecake hence one won’t get sick eating one whole slice by oneself (or maybe because we alternate between the cheesecake and the chocolate one that’s why we didn’t get sick of the cake? Haha no idea. :p ). As for the chocolate cake on the left, it has a hazelnut base with layers of chocolate sponge alternating with layers of chocolate cream/mousse (can’t remember which is it). Not bad, though I would have preferred a thinner layer of cream/mousse.
The ambience there is suitable for mini friends gathering or a high-tea session (if you are trying to be atas ;) ). But probably that’s because I went there on a weekday at around mid-afternoon, hence the crowd is smaller.
The service at IMM is, unfortunately, relatively poor. I first ordered a warm Tiramisu Coffee yet they served a cold one to me. My coach said cold coffee is not good for the stomach so I changed it to a warm one (though I’m not sure if what he said is true, does anyone have any idea?). And it was relatively difficult to get their attention, considering it’s a pretty small outlet.
Nevertheless, I still like their coffee and would love to try their main dishes and other desserts! |

| Mum & Dad's First Visit
I've been to Coffee Club many times, but I have never reviewed it even once, but I have decided to do so now, coz it's my parents' first visit and also, my first time having a proper dinner outing at Coffee Club.
Coffee Club is currently having a $6-promotion, which includes a Soup-of-The-Day & a Drink Add-On, of a choice of Black Coffee or English Breakfast Tea. A pretty reasonable combination, so it's something worth considering to have.
Dad had a Piri Piri Chicken, which was a combination of grilled chicken with pasta, basked in tomato sauce. It was my parent's first experience with pasta, so it was QUITE an experience and I had to finish up the pasta. =D The tomato sauce was good, coz it was not too diluted, yet not too thick as well, so it was pretty good for me.
Mum & me shared a Chicken with Zuchini Baked Rice, which was simply awesome. There were bread bits all over the dish, plus the cheese was not exceptionally overwhelming. YUMMY!! And there were chicken bits all over the dish as well!! In general, the dish was pretty well-done and definitely worth a try.
In addition, we had a Crusted Dory Gremolata, which was a combination of 2 slices of dory fish, which was nicely fried, with a nice crust on top, and mashed potato, with ham bits!! Awesome!! The dory fish was smooth and soft and had a lemon taste to it as well. The mashed potato was pretty soft, but there was a crunchiness added to the whole feel due to the ham bits. Definitely another dish worth trying!!
Citibank & UOB had a 10% discount for the whole meal, but we chose to have a free dessert cake instead! We chose Royaltine, which was a combination of chocolate mousse, with chocolate chiffon (??) cake. Pretty good, but I wished I had the Muddy Mud Pie instead, which is a personal favourite and must-have for me at Coffee Club.
Relatively good ambience on a Thursday evening, as there is no mad rush of crowd around and one can actually enjoy the slight 'quietness' of the surroundings. And the service was pretty commendable, considering that there was only a staff strength of 4.
Will I return?? Definitely, maybe not for the main courses, but definitely for the drinks and desserts. Afterall, that is what Coffee Club was first famous for. =D |

| Nice place
Had hi-tea at this place. Loved the rosebud tea that cost about $4 per pot. You can request for refill of hot water for your tea pot. Salad was quite good. Staff was friendly and humourous. |
