I have been frequenting Creation for at least the past 6 years and I am surprised I haven't actually wrote them a review. Haa.

Nice little place, nestled in Shaw Towers. They serve really value-for-money dishes and they have been making it a point to add new items to their menu. Service is passable but largely due to the lack of staff.

Their set meal comes with soup, main and drink at $9.90 for lunch and if I didn't remember wrongly $12.90 for dinner with dessert.

The soups here are nice and light, not over the sky but generally good. At least it doesn't taste canned.  Garlic bread is but a simple toast with a dash of garlic butter.

I am always intrigued by the pasta, from tomyam to laksa to chilli crab and now javanese curry. You don't usually find them elsewhere, and if you do, its either much more pricey or not as yummy. Do give them a try!

I personally also really like their ravioli with mushroom stuffings. They always manage to get it al dente =) Only downside, their portions may be a little small for the guys.

All in all, its comfort food. Nothing fancy, just nice for its price and setting. I'll be back for another 5 years.

i guess you can check out this place if the craving for pasta hits and you want something satisfying and quick and you're in the area.

the corn soup in my set was starchy and tasted canned so i didn't finish it.

my seafood marinara linguine had noodles that were surprisingly chewy and cooked al dente. mm i liked how there were real tomato chunks in the sauce and they were not stingy with the salmon, prawn and mussels.

diet coke to top it off. you fill out your own order sheet and the waiter just brings the food and answers questions and requests so nothing much for service.

oh but i like how they accomodate requests for substitutions in the pasta and i guess the place is clean...

    When: 2nd June 2011 @ 1pm

The place seems small and crampy and we are lucky to get a table during lunch hour (probably there are only a total number of say 10 tables??)

But once you are seated down, the whole dining experiece just becomes better from then on. The set meals of 9.90 (no service charge and no GST =D ) which includes soup and bread, main course and a drink is very worth the money. The food is good tasting as well with a good variety of pasta choices (all together 5 types).

The menu is simple but sometimes too many choices can create headache instead so in a sense, it actually helps to ease the mind to think and to enjoy how simplicity can equate to good tasting as well.

Overall, a gd choice for a quick lunch or dinner after work. So maybe a little patience will help when trying to get seats.

My sister brought me here, said that they served cheap and good italian food!

I'll always order risotto if i see it on a menu. Thus i made my pick immediately :)Risotto was great, and very value for money!

Sis ordered laksa spaghetti cus it sounded interesting. To our surprise, it was kinda nice too :)

This place is worth going a second time!

Went there for dinner last Saturday for the first time this year. I've been patronising Creation for the past 7 years and though at times, the food was not fantastic, it still served well as a decent meal.

Menu has been changed since the last time I visited and prices have increased slightly but acceptable. New dishes were added as well but I could barely remember them except for the apple crumble desert served as set dinner. Also, you can have a choice of chocolate/vanilla ice cream, instead of the usual.

Soup of the day was carrot soup. Soup has maintained it's standard of cafe-like for being savory, thick and not too milky and smooth no matter what kind of soup. Garlic bread was served crispy but still rather tasteless due to the light garlic spread.Had my regular Seafood Laksa and gladly, it tastes the same as usual. Not too oily and spicy creamy, I recommend all kinds of pasta to go with this dish. If you are not a fan of cream based but will like to try it out, go for linguine. Seafood was cooked nicely and the prawns taste fresher than before! My partner had Seafood Marirana, not squabbles about it. Scallop was not too soft/hard, the 'QQ' texture. My partner had the usual brownie with vanilla ice cream while I had apple crumble with chocolate ice cream. Honestly, dessert was not up to par. Apple crumble pie was too soft and lacked of cinnamon flavour though it smells good. Chocolate ice cream tasted like Wall's.

Service wise has maintained otherwise, and yet again, many new faces. Current chef is an indian gentleman.

Good news for people who think the area is stuffy, the owner now provides a fan but remember to ask for the tables nearer to the counter =)

Must tries: Seafood Laksa pasta, Chilli Crab Pasta, Meatballs, Brownie, Soup

We had the set lunch that is $9.90nett inclusive of a soup, drink and a pasta main.

Soup of the day was cream of cauliflower. Can be slightly thicker but still it was good. smooth and not too salty. I had other better soups here though. Their home made garlic bread may look so-so but its flavour filled. The garlic and butter made it a perfect combi. The bread used was just normal bread so those with braces, good for us.

Pasta today was slightly hard, had some problems with chewing recently. Sauce was thick and rich, had some onion pieces in it.

We all chose tea as our drink. Nice brew of english breakfast over some gossips and chat. Love catching up.

If not for my friend who brought me there, I think I would have never stepped into Shaw Leisure Gallery. My friend was hyped over the Seafood Laksa Cream Based pasta. Took a little taste of it (being allergic to seafood and all), I absolutely love it! Sauce is thick and creamy but not overbearing. The amount of spiciness level was just right. The initial thought of laksa and cream based together was weird and repulsive, but they did a good blend of it. Wish I could eat it though..

So I had the Carbonara wtih Mushroom Ravioli. It was to DIE FOR!  The mushroom was juicy! Love it when the juices burst into my mouth then I take a bite out of it. The cabonara cream sauce was thick, I prefer it more watery. However the thickness of it isn't too sickening. Still acceptable. Maybe next time, I will ask them to make it more watery.

Definitely a must go and must try!!!

I've been patronising this cafe for a few years now.  This place was first recommended to me by my polytechnic friends.  Ever since my virgin visit to this cafe, I've been a faithful customer.

The dishes which I have tried were fish & chips and carbonara.  I have yet to explore the other dishes because my friends would usually order the other favourites like, seafood aglio, chicken alfredo and marinara. All the others were equally pleasant tasting.

As a matter of fact, the dishes are slightly above average; not especially delicious but for a $9.90 set lunch which includes main course, soup and drinks, it is very reasonably priced with a sense of satisfaction for the food and service. As for the dinner set, it is about $15 which comes with an additional choice of dessert on top of what is included in the set lunch.

The service is generally good and the server even put an extra stool beside me for me to put my bulky bag.  Very considerate and thoughtful.

During lunch hour this afternoon, I did a reservation to bring my colleagues down to try the food there.  My colleagues felt that the food is nice and pretty worth it.

I will continue to dine at this place.  In fact, in the month of March, I have been there on 3 occasions already.  Keep it up, Creation! :)

Was walking with my gf around the bugis area for quite a bit without finding any place that "appealed" to our taste buds. Decided to pop into Shaw to take a look and was literally invited to try Creation Cafe (the waiter beckoned us to come in with his hand gestures). Decided to give it a try and luckily we did :)

    Food/Berverage:

The soup of the day was mushroom soup, which was pretty nice, i'd say above average. We had the chicken alfredo spagetti and italian sausage penne. The chicken was quite succulent and the alfredo sause was tasty. The italian sausage sauce was a little too tangy though, sorta bites into your tongue a little.

    Ambience:

The place is pretty cosy, with like a indoor patio-like seating area. Even though it was pretty crowded with a young crowd, it was not too noisy as the place was not enclosed.

    Value:

Although it's common sense that the GST and service charge is already priced into the menu price, it's still nice to see a restaurant that "does not charge service charge and GST'. What you see is what you get. The dinner set at $15.20 is pretty value for money as well as it includes soup, drink, entree and dessert.

    Service:

The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful when asked for suggestions. Excellant service.

I have always been fond of pasta and Creation was one of the first few places that I thought made one of the better tasting Seafood Aglio pastas around.

However, I feel that the standard of the pastas overall has dropped in the past year (the chef is different from what I observed, but I didn't confirm with the Boss directly)and the pastas nowadays tend to be less flavourful. The portions have always been small, but that's not my main gripe.

I think for those who frequent Creation often can tell the subtle difference. It used to be that the Seafood Aglio and Marinara had a certain "seafoody oomph" to it, but that has somehow disappeared.

Service has always been excellent but I just hope that the management can do something about the cooking!

I will still frequent Creation, and I think lots of other regulars still do. But I wonder if anyone senses anything amiss about the flavour.

The problem might also be that I am quite picky about seafood, but then again, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

    Must tries: Seafood Aglio
