| Highly unsatisfying experience
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who said it is value for money and the food is not too bad.
Upon arriving at 7.30pm, the restaurant is rather empty.. we should have known something is amiss.. In Singapore, no good reataurant is almost empty during dinner time. Anyway, we ordered a boneless short bbq ribs and a thick bean paste soup (been craving for it since my return from Korea).
The Food:
Appetiser - tiny portions (about 8 kinds) for 2 person to share and no refill. Nothing special there...
Main Course -
When the bbq beef arrived, it is already cooked and served on a hot plate. The bad:
(1) The portion is only enough for 1 person. At $32, we had expected more - this is not unreasonable as we had a similar dish at about the same pricing at Amara Hotel and it was enough for 2 persons
(2) The hot plate loses its heat too fast and the meat of course turned cold then.
(3) Ordinary taste.
Then the thick bean paste soup came and I became more upset. The soup is not thick at all! If its considered thick then plain water would be call thick too! And I have ONE prawn and only a moderate portion of cheap vegetables in the soup. All these for $16!
By this time, I had decided my friend has some serious estimating issue. This meal is far from being a value-for-money! Must kok some sense into him.
For the finale, we were given 2 tiny (5cm by 2cm) slices of papaya on ONE plate and some cough syrup tasting drink.
More upsetting things... the staff cannot understand english so anything I asked they just shake their heads. It was stated that BBQ and ala carte items have 20% off for Amex. Now, I always thought ala carte means I order individual items from the menu and not set meals or special etc. But I found out their bean paste soup is considered hot pot. Beef on hot plate is BBQ. I not sure how many other categories they have but suffice to say this shall be the last I see of them. |
