Mexican grub

A recent meet up with a blast from the past found us at El Patio, albeit on my insistence since I refused to ever step into Cha Cha Cha again. (Read the story on Cha Cha Cha's review)

El patio had never failed me and having not gone mexican for a looooong while now, my appetite was all reved up for some serious bean and tortilla action.

Even as I've been there on several occassions and always leaning towards the chimichanga...coz I like me tex-mex fried and loaded, I'm always looking to see if something else was more interesting before going with the norm. As I nibbled on the the chips and salsa dip (was not as crispy this time tho still good), I contemplated between a mix burrito or a chicken fajita. My friend having recently discovered Cha Cha Cha but had to content with El Patio on my account, wanted to start with the supreme nachos with the works (beef chicken and such). He had to settle for the non beefy version though (me doing again) with just chicken on the nachos which he reckons Cha Cha Cha does it better. I quite enjoyed it nonetheless except the streaming blast of aircon above our heads meant we had to eat fast to keep it crispy.

I finally settled on the Prawn Fajitas and my friend with the Black Pepper beef fajitas. The prawns were scrumptious, fresh and well flavoured (loads of onion!)altho I would have preferred it a bit more spicy. We were happy with our choices altho struggled a bit to polish it all off.

Topped off dinner with a refreshing strawberry magarita and walked out smelling no less than two walking piece of BBQ meats. Lovely.

Ooo La La!!!

So after a drink at our regular drinking joint at HV, we decided to have dinner nearby and decided on El Patio. I had just sat down when the couple next to me got their food and I knew I was in for a good meal, coz there was this wonderful aroma coming from whatever was on their sizzling hotplate!

Turn out their specialities are their Fajitas which come on a hotplate accompanied by the flat bread to wrap whatever meat you ordered. The bf got the chicken fajita, I got the lamb fajita, our friends got the upsized version of the burrito and the smoked chicken enchillada (sp?). We also ordered the grande nachos for appetisers, mango and strawberry margaritas which came in jam jars (How cute!) and Sol beer for the boys.

Service was prompt and they gave us iced water and complimentary nacho chips with salsa. The grande nachos came with yummy cheese, chicken, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Both the hotplates came at the same time, sizzling and smelling like heaven! They gave us a side salad, guacamole and sour cream to include in the fajita we wrapped ourselves. It was quite fun wrapping the fajitas coz we could include as much meat as we wanted plus I stole some chicken from the bf to include in my fajita!!

The meats were tender and flavourful. Portions were generous enough. The magaritas were equally yummy! I was one satisfied bunny after that meal!

Im definately coming back again!

Must Tries: Fajitas!!!

Good Meixican food, good prices.

This restaurant has always produced good, decently priced Mexican fare ever since it was first opened. Servings are just nice (for me at least) and the ambiance is quaint, especially inside. We eat here at least 6-8 times a year (there is such a thing as too much Mexican food!), nothing more.

Sunday supper

Would definitely go again to El patio. The food was as expected and as we weren't especially hungry the chips and dips were plenty as a starter. For our mains we had chicken enchilada and fajitas which had nicely spiced chunks of chicken that arrive on a sizzling platter.

The place was busy, if not packed out, and so the service was a little slow i.e. you have to ask for a waiter to come over, but when they arrived they were efficient and friendly. Our food took a while to arrive but we didn't really notice at the time until the staff arrived with drinks on the house and apologies for the delay.

Overall I would recommend this as a place to visit for the food, smiley staff and margarita's (in jam jars!).

Good food here! Come COME!

Came here with wife twice already and most recently was night before. The food here is good. We ordered :

1) Sangria
2) Chicken fajita
3) Lamb fajita

The fajitas were yummy and the meats were very soft. Portion was managable, not too big but filling if you eat up everything. The Sangrai was very good too. Previously I ordered the margaritaand it was good too. Come here and eat!
