After walking past this chicken rice outlet so many times, I decided to eat there and buy some food home. Simple right ?
After telling the cashier my order, instead of a smile and good service, I get an angry staff telling me off because I ordered wrongly.
Mr Nuar (the cashier) had to void the order by jabbing the cashier machine vigorously and telling me that I should have listing the food items for eating in first. Then only after that should I tell him what I want to pack to go.
I was stunned.
Wow ! No "please", no "thank you", no smiles.
Epic failure for an eatery.
I have been around. I love Hawker Food and trying any new tastes I can get my mouth into! I have lived in Singapore for more then 4 years and was introduced to this place from a friend. I didn't know what to expect, chicken rice is chicken rice right? The chicken rice from this place was amazing.
From the outside it looks like a normal outdoor / indoor eatary. You make your order at the counter, and you get a cost for the total amount based on the people in your group. It all comes out on a sharing plate, with each person getting there own serving of rice.
We ususally order the onion omolette, the fried wanton and an extra serving of rice. The rice is full of flavour and the can be eaten alone. The chicken is oozing with it's own juices as well as not being to salty.
I am going to this place tonight, and can say truely say its one of the best chicken rice places in Singapore!
Have passed by this place a few times. Finally went to try a few weeks ago with whole family. Thought that a specialised shop like this should serve good food.
Queue to order, the cashier like long face and impatient. Table and chairs were uncomfortable. Utensils on the table looks dirty.
Food came. First thing you noticed is the very small serving of chicken that cost $3.50 excluding rice, equally small portion T $1.00. A very small bowl of soup.
Worst when you taste it, you wished you had gone to your nearby chicken rice stall at the hawker centre, definitely served better food. Other dishes just as bad.
The Malay staff around will call to you to buy their food when you pass by. Don't be fooled, they are very unfriendly and impatient once you sit down at the table.
POOR / LOUSY / UGLY / TASTELESS / EXPENSIVE/ DIRTY ALL ROUND. GO EAT AND REGRET.
It was one of my best experiences going to this restraunt. The service was great and the food was good, except for the part where some of grains of rices were uncooked; they were hard and disgusting. But since the chili sause was superb, they're forgiven. After i ordered, the staff only took about 10-15 minutes to serve the food. They were fast and probably the best staff i have ever seen.
Looks like this is the first review for this restaurant. I guess not many Singaporean know this place. My family/friends have patronised this friendly restaurant for some years now and very much enjoyed the chicken rice. Before moving to this location this restaurant was only a stall in an old coffeeshop in Tanglin Halt. The owner is very friendly and the serving staff(multiracial) know the dishes well, the service-fast and efficient.Being a HALAL restaurant, the owner insist that their non muslim staff do not bring/consume non HALAL food at the restaurant. The steam chicken is very tender, served boneless and skinless (if you so wish). There are other side dishes like kailan, kangkong blachan, chicken organs, chicken feet. The lunch hour is always packed with office workers (chinese, malays, indians and sometimes angmoh too).During the Muslim Fasting month the restaurant is usually filled with Muslim coming to break the fast in the evening. The prices are reasonably affordable.
