This simply decorated cafe serves sandwiches, desserts and all their own baked goods, of course. There are a number of breads, cakes and other sweet treats to choose from, and
Freshly Baked has been open since mid-September 2007, giving us a French style Kopitiam shop ambience. It offers a variety of Artisan Breads, Cakes (Special Order) and pastries. It is a great place for a lazy morning breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. Let us pamper you with a strong and nice cappuccino together with a healthy sandwich. We even serve crispy yet chewy macarons. Look out for festive or seasonal specials as well.
I've noticed this bakery for a long time but somehow never thought to venture in. What led me here was a deep craving for simple pound cakes and their chocolate loaf cake is simply amazing - soft, moist, tender, rich, chocolatey... Perfect! Other loaf cakes were equally delish, especially the banana (super soft, fragrant, and not too sweet) and the marble (buttery and chocolatey in all the right places). From their cakes, I moved on to their sandwiches, which were not the super gourmet-type you'll find at hipster cafes, but genuine, salt-of-the-earth, home style sandwiches with THE MOST AMAZING BREADS IN THE WORLD! So far I've tried the ciabatta, olive foccacia, and whole meal, all were impressive. Ciabatta light and crusty, focaccia chewy and fragrant, and whole meal was crusty outside and fluffy inside. And the sandwiches were loaded with greens too, proving they don't skimp on ingredients. Lots of people recommend the cheese soft loaf and indeed it is an excellent snacking bread. I've yet to try the cranberry loaf, as well as their famous red velvet cake with cream cheese, or the almond dacquoise I always see on the counter. Sliced cakes aplenty - the banana cake with chocolate chip is very satisfying. Without all the bells and whistles of the hipster cafes we have too many of today, Le Bijoux is the kind of place that draws you with substance; it's the kind of place that keeps me up at night :)
small cafe styled bakery, you find your own seat, look thru the menu, order at the counter and wait to be served.
tried the brunch set at $11.90, came with 2 slices of bread, multi grain type with butter and jam. i choose the set with bacon and egg. The bacon is highly recommended. Also take away 2 of their croissant which is really nice ($1.80 each).
I have tasted a few cakes in my time, and this one is one of the best if not the best!!! Its so moist and chocolaty but not so sweet at the same time! It defiantly hits the spot! So much so, I had to bring a couple of loafs back with me to the UK!!
