Tea Time @Fruit Paradise

I was waiting for collecting my prize from a shop at Orchard Central, the shop assistant requested me to come back to the shop after 30 mins, so I was thinking to do something to spend this 30 mins. After checking the directory, I realized that there is a Fruit Paradise there which is located in the 5th floor, so I went there for short break.

The first time I had dessert from it is from another outlet at VivoCity, I fell in love with their fruit tart deeply after having it.

I ordered a Strawberry MontBlanc and Pink Rose Buds tea as a tea set. Well, it was 7pm but the shop is super quite, there is only me and another table occupied.

Love their fruit tart but I would still prefer to dine in in their VivoCity outlet!

Went there on the the eve of the recent Christmas. The one who serve us was friendly and handle our request very good. We reuqested for where to sit, asked a lot of questions etc. We ended up playing some card and mini-board games over our pots of tea.

I like Blueberry Tart and Seasonal Fruit Tart. Both taste delicious. Great for berries and fruits lover respectively. Strawberry Mont Blanc is a weird-taste choice. I do not really like Mont Blanc and this tart had a weird taste, as if mixed with some nuts or what. I can't tell the difference between the base of each tart but my friend could! Hence they also recommend the two tarts.

The place is quiet and i love the ambience there. Not forgetting the free refill of hot water for our tea. (unlike TWG) A great place to chill or having hi-tea! =)

Good choice to have as afternoon tea or after-meal dessert.

However, the service is really disappointing. First experience in the store was good. But during second visit was very terrible. Was there for an after-dinner meal dessert session with my cousins to celebrate one of them's birthday. Waiting time for everything was way too long. Though it was near closing hours, the staff placed priority to take-out order customers than to dine-in customers. Had to order 3 times because the male staff attending to us did not place our orders on hold despite we have already ordered. Even when the tarts that we wanted were out of stock, the male staff did not even put in his effort to sell us the remaining tarts and make his own comment that we do not like that remaining tart, which was the blueberry tart, at all.

In the process of ordering, though the male staff apologized for the out of stock, he did it rudely like as though we are customers who are in the neighbourhood coffeeshop but not in a cafe. With the dissatisfied service and long waiting hours when there is practically only 3 tables to attend to (including ours), we requested for waive of service charge. The female staff that attended to us seems rather new, hence she called for the store supervisor. To our horror, it was the same rude male staff that has attended to us again. Throughout the whole conversation of getting the waive of service charge off, he snub at us as though we are beggars who do not have any money to pay. And when we try to state the fact, he forcefully argued his way with us saying that the other stores like Tampines, Raffles City and etc were much more superior than them. At the end, he then realized that all we wanted was the service charge wavier.

Yet this was not the worst to end of the experience there. This miscommunication that the male supervisor staff had with the female serving staff, he pushed it all to us and indicate that it was our fault to began with.

Seriously, though the fruit tarts are worth the try, but never try them at the Orchard central outlet. To think customers like us went into the store feeling happy had to come out feeling very angry because we paid to make ourselves unhappy. If the service attitude and quality doesn't improve, it is not worth the while.
