A serious organic affair
Nov 25, 2007This is one of the hidden gem of vegetarian food in Singapore. It is quietly located in the clubbing area of clarke quay. They serve serious organic vegetarian food, not the type of oily vegetarian beehoon found at the friendly neighbourhood kopitiam.
Try the steamed wonton and bak ku teh or even chicken rice. The good thing about the food is that they are prepared with in-depth knowledge of vegetarianism.
In the restaurant, they also sell organic products, such as fruit juice, cookies, tidbits, and even toothpaste! Sounds cool huh, check them out.
Talk to the friendly owners of the place, Mrs Chee, she will be glad to inform you about healthy tips.
The way to healthy lifestyle, vegetarian! (although i'm not)

Lunch time at raffles place
Mar 26, 2009This is an excellant place for lunch. Airconditioned but still less pricy compared to other aircon place around raffles place area; healthy food; fresh vegetables and very friendly staff!
Its such a wonderful hidden treasure that the thought of not reviewing this place did cross my mind - so that i am always assured of a seat the next time i eat here! =) it's such a great secret, you want to keep it to yourself.
There's very little of the mock meat nonsense here. Definitely not your usual vegetarian stall. Instead, what is usually used here are fresh vegetables - carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, pine nuts etc.
I LURVE the organice mee sua, the za jiang mian and the pastas! And i absolutely LURVE the seaweed roll. Its chockfull with crisp carrots, crunchy cucumbers oozing with sauce and wrapped with seaweed. Other hot favourites are the claypot rice and the dumplings.
And they are even giving away free dessert now!
My only grouse? They charge for plain water. But well, its still excellant food!
Of course, if you are the kind that needs sinful food during the stressful working days, then this place won't satisfy your junk food craving. But otherwise, enjoy!Must Tries

Vegetarian food with onions
Sep 14, 2009Stopped by genesis vegetarian health food restaurant.
The interior is quite small. I think it is suitable for a small group of ppl.
I saw some staffs making mooncakes. Oh, it's the mooncake season.
The daily specials- Lasagne, tuna seaweed roll, kim chee noodles... etc. I had :
. Tuna seaweed roll
. Fresh apple Juice
. I vegetable bao
Tuna seaweed roll was good. It was filled with crunchy carrots, cucumbers and fresh veggies. The vegetables were fresh! I like the mayonnaise that they use. One thing special is that the '' tuna''(mock meat) actually contain onions. I thought vegetarian food does not have onions? I was a little puzzled.
The vegetable pao is a little DiSappointing. The skin were soggy and they told me it was made frm organic whole wheat flur. I did not like it as it's soggy so i left it untouched. The vegetables were a little bland.
Apple juice were ok... nth special.
They also have acai berry juice which is full of antioxidants.I think i'll go back to try that out.
Had lunch @ genesis vegetarian restuarant.
The food there is fabulous! They have different menu everyday and the menu of the day that caught my attention is the kampung rice. It comes with a bowl of garlic brown rice, kangkong, tau kwa, long beans , ikan bilis made from mushrooms special sauce. I like the garlic brown rice as it's very fragrant, with shreds of kaffir lime leaves and garlic bits. The kangkong and long beans are boiled so it's pretty 'bland'. I did not try the long beans as it was pretty hard. The mushrooms were good, great for snack too.
Svc here is good as the owner would take time to explain the different dishes to you. Come and enjoy the organic and wholesome food @ Genesis!

It was still sunny when i step into genesis.
However, it started to rain heavily while i was still enjoying my claypot rice.
The rice, warm and fluffy. It was especially suitable for this rainy weather.
I like the charred/ '' cao ta'' bottom. The rice taste so fragrant with the special sauce. The mushroom was well-braised. I think they must have braised it for hours. Some veggies and carrots to finish it off. The serving is jus nice for one person.
I like genesis. The people is good as they pay attention to little details and the food is full of love and creative. However, i think the svc here needs some imrpovement. The chinese lady who served me doesnt seem willing to serve me. She is always busy attending to other things and sometimes pull a sulky face.

The daily special is the same every week. Mon- kampung rice, Tue- assam fish, wed- LEI CHa AND so on. Today is fri and they serve rendang rice set. The rendang rice set consist of rice, boiled veggies and a bowl of ''rendang'' with potatoes and mushroom balls. I like the rendang gravy. It is not spicy and they do not use any coconut milk. It taste quite mild but the rempeh taste is still significant. I wish there were more gravy.

Sunday, very few places are open for biz. I walked past genesis and went in to take a look. Today's menu: Beef curry brown rice set. It sounds interesting, mock beef cook in curry. I also ordered a side salad to go along.
The rice set is served with a green veggie and a bowl of ''beef curry''. The curry is cooked with greens peas, cubes of potatoes and mock beef made of mushrooms. It was quite tasty and the serving is just enough for one person. I find that there were too much potatoes and i wish there were more gravy to go along with my rice.Spent about

Imaginative Veg*n Creations at Genesis Vegetarian Health Food Restaurant
Mar 4, 2010Vegetarianism has always been associated with only 2 religions - Hinduism and Buddhism, however time had changed. Vegetarianism today does not advocated by only these 2 faiths but other faiths too such as - Christian Vegetarianism and so on. Besides, there are various adherents like the eco-conscious that advocate Vegetarianism just for Eating Green - Living on the Veg or those health conscious who is advocating healthy eating.
Although Genesis is not one of those Vegetarian Eateries on the Health Promotion Board - Healthier Dinning Programme but they are definitely offering delectable organic healthy meals. This simple causal eatery is a favourite with Caucasians and locals working around Raffles Places.
Been to this eatery for few times, it never disappoint me with their creative vegan friendly Asian-inspired dishes such as Mango Salad, Fish Head Noodle, Korean Set and many other on their menu.
Brown Rice Set or Set Meal is never my first choice when I dine in any Organic Eateries, as there are other specialities waiting to be discovered. I picked 'Penang Popiah' @ $3.50! I was expecting those normal popiah wrap with organic veggies but Genesis used nori instead which is more nutritious.
Palatable too! Besides just veggies, there are little pieces of tofu, mock meat made with mushroom stalks, and mock fish that added some texture to it.

They sell wholemeal bread as well. It's a heaven for real(unprocessed) food lovers, vegetarians and those who love life and wants to live longer!
