Reached around 6 plus on a Monday night,

There wasn't queue (because everyone sitting down wad),

Anyway it looks like they are very busy so i just ordered the smallest portion and went in search for other stalls.

The food was served in less than 15 minutes and the auntie said

    "你们很lucky啊.别人order可是还没有来所以给你们先"

at that point of time i did not pay heed to what she was saying till now after reading the reviews,

    1. Chan Ryu Hahaha... thats what she said to me recently too! Anyway, we paid $15 for 3 pax, and thought it is not worth the price too.

30 years in the claypot rice business, this couple team is still going strong at its original stall at Golden Mile. The owner was sheepishly proud that her stall was rated Number 1 over the other famous Chinatown and Clementi stalls on a local television competition.

Golden Mile’s claypot rice was a classic – fragrant rice which was topped with tender marinated chicken pieces, tasty Chinese sausages, fresh green vegetables and light traces of salted fish. The winner was the soya sauce, thick and dark, yet not overly salty which would usually make one thirst.

Added with a formulated sweet chilli sauce, the combination was aromatic and addictive. Cooked over charcoal for about 15 minutes, the moist rice was soft and fluffy on the bite. It complimented well with the slightly salty meat and sausage slices. One wished for some mushroom pieces for an added texture though.

Although the ‘star’ of this Cantonese dish should be the ‘claypot’, I learnt that several patrons actually preferred to take-away. This would allow more time for the rice to absorb the various flavours and moisture.

I noticed that the rice, oil and sauce brands were displayed prominently around the stall, and asked if they were afraid others would steal their winning formula. The owner replied that the secret to success was not only about what went into the claypot, but the experience behind the hands cooking them. Well said.

I pretty much enjoyed the claypot rice from this stall.

Like the way, that I'm allow to add as much dark soy sauce as I like into the claypot.

The rice crust on the bottom of the claypot is real crispy, and when mix with the others, it give a kind of fragrance that of a little burnt rice, and the crisp on the chewing part.

    Quite yummy.

Tried this stall again because of the very high review.

Reached around 6 plus on a Monday night,

There wasn't queue (because everyone sitting down wad),

at that point of time i did not pay heed to what she was saying till now after reading the reviews,

i realized how blessed my friend and i were! Praise Lord!!

The actual waiting time is supposed to be around 45 minutes!

Overall it taste pretty normal to me.

Clementi used to have 1 stall selling claypot rice which i think is the nicest among all those i have tried but its closed down!

    Ambience 5

food center, what do you expect?

    Value 6.5

Smallest portion is $10 which i think its pretty cheap and the size is quite big with abundance of ingredients.

    Service 6

the auntie that serves food is friendly.

Dedicated to Cannigia ~ my bro in my darkest hours as well as happy times,

Almost as good...but sometimes there are no prizes for second best.

I hate the location of the stall...which is so near the toilet, everytime i have to shuttle far away from the stall itself. The waiting time is long...but worth the wait.

    S$5 average per pax...

    1. SCdreamer JW, looks yummy man!! I hv heard abt it but hv not tired it yet.

For the original chinatwn claypot rice, u have to go to eastcoast rd, before siglap centre. If u r looking somewhere near ur plc, try the one at margaret drive 2nd flr, but stingy on the salted fish. A great PITY

a victorious day for my gd buddy & I, a celebration was due. we rounded few more buddies (big capacity eaters that'd put a rugby team to shame) to dine.

the location & smells in the vicinity wasnt doing our appetite much good, so we had to change tables twice, so as to evade the revolting smells from the public loo. nontheless, having settled for a remote seat from where the stall was located, and had our fill.

doused the rice generously with dark soy sauce & oil complimentary... gave it a lil stir, and viola good to be eaten~!

With all the typical food court claypot stalls in singapore, i have somehow formed a perception of how the claypot rice here will taste like...i was absolutely wrong!

marinated chicken meat that is so so tender(just like eating frog leg meat i feel), chinese sauages that leaves a sweet aftertaste, lots of green vege and the bits of salted fish, it just makes the queue seems so worthwhile...

me and my buddy had fun mixing the oil and the black sauce with the rice...For two males, the $10 portion doesnt seem enough to fill our hungry bellies hehe...

Fren brought me to try this famous and delicious claypot rice. Been hearing fren gushing about this place, so just had to try it whilst in the vicinity.

We reached around 6pm and the orders were oredi piling. Mind you, the stall only opens at 5pm. Forget about hesitation or being unable to make up your mind or keep bugging the auntie who take orders with nitty gritty questions. Decide fast and jus give your order, otherwise you risk getting chided by the auntie. A young chap with his gf in tow got chided by the auntie for being unable to make up his mind on whether to order big or small portion. haiz. Reason being she is jus plain busy taking orders not jus from customers there but via phone too. Yes, you can call up to order in advance and collect later. Calls are ringing off the hook. Business is just so great that one has to wait an average of 30 mins. During the peak, one prob has to wait up to 45 mins to an hr. Dig this, there are only 4 ppl helming the stall. 1 uncle to cook. 1 uncle to just purely wash the claypots. 1 auntie to serve and she is fast and prompt on serving not jus the food but the utensils and sauces as well. 1 auntie jus to take orders. May look chaotic but its a v efficient system in itself.

Well, for good food, the wait is worth it. And I wasn't disappointed when the food came. The fragrance wafted into my nose before the claypot was on the table. As I mix up the meat and rice after pouring in the oil and black sauce, the fragrance jus makes me salivate. Meats are in chunks and are juicy and tasty to taste and the green vegetables serving is generous. Other places tend to serve meats in minute pieces and devoid of the juices as well as non-existent green veg. This stall is definitely not stingy with the meat, chinese sausage, green veg and rice.

After I took a spoonful of rice, I finally understood why its so fragrant. There are tiny bits of salted fish in the rice too. Together wif the marinated chicken meat chunks and slices of chinese sausages, it just equates to a wonderful fragrance that attracts ppl from all over just to satisfy their craving. The rice is also not overcooked till its overly blackened by the time its served, hence the timing is really jus nice. Sufficient water is also used to cook the rice as I could not find any grains of half cooked rice. (experienced this from other stalls) Dab a bit of the chilli provided onto the meat and its jus heavenly.

Claypot rice portion for 2 at only $10 with generous servings of everything. What more can you ask for? I went away feeling very satisfied. :)
