    E. and I only have ONE recommendation to anyone who ventures here - ORANGE CIABATTA KAYA TOAST! Dipped into peppered soft-boiled eggs with a dash of soy sauce. Washed down with steaming kopi-o-kosong. There, that's our morning, made.

The atmosphere here is very convivial, in E's words. The crowd comprises mainly office workers and elderly folk, who probably live in the area. I think they're regulars, by the looks of it. The cafe is pretty clean. Service is prompt and always polite, the couple of times we've been there. This place is a hidden gem, tucked in the 3rd floor of a mall in Chinatown. Who would've guessed the famed Italian slipper bread would pair so well with this Asian breakfast dish?

If you're a kaya toast fan, and are looking for something new, this is definitely something you HAVE to try!

Again HGW brought me to this little cafe tucked in level 3 of chinatown point. From the reviews, the orange ciabatta toastw ith kaya butter seemed to be very popular. Thus, i decided to get one to try it for myself. They made the orange ciabatta bread themselves so you would not find it elsewhere. However, u can also opt for normal white bread/wholemeal. The ornage ciabatta bread is lightly toasted and spread with generous amount of butter and their home-made kaya. The auntie is really generous with the kaya as she wants the customer to taste the fragrance of kaya rather than eating the plain bread. Verdict The orange ciabatta bread is really soft even after toasting. The outer layer is crispy and the interior is soft and fluffy. The kaya and butter taste really good with the bread. Remember to eat it warm, it would not be as good if u leave it for too long. Recomended as the bread is rather unique.

Didn't expect that they will have such yummy raisin scones here! (J: Unlike Cedele's scones which were more cakey, this scone is softer inside and not too dry! Previously when we tried their scones, they actually topped the scones with cinnamon n sprinkled some sugar on top which gives the scone extra crunch on e top crust. It's as though the top is caramelized.) The scone was served with strawberry jam when we 1st tried it. When we went back today, we requested the scones to be served with orange marmalade.
*Got to top up 50 cents if you want other jams!*

Scones with orange marmalade had a very special taste of e orange peel.

And we were lucky on saturday as the owner of the cafe, Bryon was there and he let us try the ginger jam from scotland! It was so delicious! Even better than the orange marmalade! Janelle and I both hate ginger because of the spicyness but this ginger jam is not spicy at all!
It was sweet with the ginger fragrance. Very refreshing! (J: It perks me up immediately)It was the best jam we've tasted so far.

Feeling unsatisfied as usual, we order 2nd serving of the raisin scone each. And Bryon was kind enough to give us extra serving of ginger jam without charging us extra!

They do have other special jam such as strawberry with champagne. We would love to try it next time. Do try the ginger jam if you're there! Unique, refreshing & de-li-cious!

their Orange Ciabatta Kaya Toast; I end up ordering Set C: Orange ciabatta toast with kopi/tea and two eggs ($4.60) almost every time I drop by. I also adore the fragrant, smooth iced kopi ($1.50) here. I've said this elsewhere and I'd say it again: I honestly wouldn't mind having this over Starbucks any day, but the location makes it impossible for me, alas.

All sets come with a with kopi/tea and two eggs. The only difference is in the kind of bread used.
    Other sets on the menu:
    - Set A: Traditional toast
    - Set B: Ciabatta
    - Set D: Thick Toast

Scones are available too at $1.80 each. Fancy buying home some kaya? They're yours for $2.90 a bottle.

Besides the requisite kopi and tea, there's also Rambutan Freeze and Longan Freeze ($2.40).

N/A for Service as it's pretty much self-service (except when they're preparing your toast; you'd get a number tag, and it'd be brought to your table).

Thks to mangoshin for pointing out this cafe.

Thick fluffy and soft , Italian Ciabatta bread was very lightly toasted, spread with kaya and butter. Thick layer of "rough" kaya with a hint of sweetness morph with the butter to become one fragrant kaya butter jam! Surprisingly Yuuuuuummmmmmmmmmy.

A nice and innovative change to traditional white bread, but personally I am still not very use to it. it will take me awhile to get use to kaya and ciabatta bread, which means I will be back for more. Oh! I also want to try the orange ciabatta kaya toast.

1 serving of ciabatta toast is cut into 4 quaters, which is quite filling for a light breakfast. I would suggest, 1 serving for 2 persons for a light breakfast or snack, paired with tea/coffee.

If you prefer traditional kaya toast, they have it too. Do give this place a try.

Total cost about $3 plus for one tea and 1 serving of toast.

    Check out the photo.

I'm a lover of flour derivatives - bread, pastries, cakes and my most recent love, scones.

We happened to be in Chinatown area over the weekend and I recalled reading from a blog that this place serves scones and kaya on ciabatta bread, I knew I had to check it out.

We arrived here about 630pm on a Saturday evening.

At the back of my mind, I actually have only 1 thing in mind and that was scones. Imagine my dismay when I was informed that they had sold out all the scones!

Determined to make the best of my visit, I ordered the following which I thought was interesting and that you will not find elsewhere

    1. Ciabatta with kaya set (comes with 2 eggs and coffee/tea)
    2. Orange ciabatta
    3. Additional coffee

This is the first time ever in my entire life that I have the traditional kaya on chic ciabatta bread. I actually did not have any expectations but when I took my first bite, I was hooked.
The bread is soft and fluffy with a generous spread of kaya and butter. The kaya is fregrant and does not threaten to numb your taste buds with overwhemling sweetness.
The orange ciabatta is more crispy and has a tinge of orange flavour.

Coffee is milky and creamy, I find this very enjoyable as well.

Mr HB loves it too and wanted to come the following morning for breakfast. But after checking their operation hours, they only start at 1030am on weekends so our breakfast plan goes out of the windows.

Must tries: Kaya on Ciabatta bread
