Above average fare for reasonable prices
Nov 19, 2008This is a frequent hangout for office people around City Hall area who want food that is considerably cheaper than the food courts @ raffles city.
Food/Beverage
Their set meals come with vegetables, deep fried pork chop (which taste pretty good). It is priced rather reasonable @ $3.80 for a set meal. Their drink however are slightly more pricey.
The assam fish in set C should be avoided though. Its jus a fried fish with assam sauce on it. Much to my dismay , the assam sauce is neither spicy nor sour, and definitely not worth the extra $2.
The place is air conditioned, but do not expect any nice decor. Its jus a air conditioned coffee shop, and it tends to get pretty noisy during lunch times when the crowd comes in.Must Tries

Been there twice awhile back, and from what I can remember the experience of their food first time was a little better than the second time.
As the name of the place suggest, it serves 'Hainanese' delights and set meals for less than $5. The place is like a simply-styled KOPITIAM... but with AIR-CON. There ain't alot of ambience to speak of, and the service is acceptable considering no GST is charged.
All in all, we tried the Curry Mee ($4.00), Set meal A ($3.80), Set meal B ($4.80), and their Hainanese Chicken Rice ($4.50). I'd say their Set meals were only so-so and did not leave much of an impression. From the picture, the presentation of one of their set meal was not too impressive. Their curry mee was quite good. The curry was not too watery and not too oily. The chicken pieces were, IMO, a tad over-cooked, and it slid off the bones too easily... Their Chicken Rice was maybe slightly above average, but the serve could have been bigger. What was really nice was their acclaimed speciality: deep-fried bean curd ($3.50). Along with the condiments and the sweet chilli sauce, it was enjoyed us. Alas, on the second trip down, the quality of the fried bean curd was a little inferior as it was not as pipping hot as we'd like when it was served.
Not sure if we'd come back again, but if we do, we'd probably go for their speciality again.Must Tries
