| Himawari ~> Another Japanese Buffet
After trying a few Japanese Buffet, I kinda sick of it. Haha.... To put it this way, the quality of the food in buffet is definitely not comparable to going an authentic Japanese Resturant. But to be fair to these buffet resturants, for the amount of food and price, they are good enuff. It just me being a bit fussy and picky on food lah..
Wanna see wat I had at Himawari?

| Fairly good place
I ate Hanabi several times and just had a similar a la carte Jap Buffet dinner about 1 month ago at Raku Holland Village which was priced 59.90+ (no svc charge), so I was able to compare with Himawari at 36.90++.
For most part, the variety was good, with esp good ebi tempura and v generous sashimi of great variety (Hanabi in contrast, sucks in sashimi and always claims Hamachi is out of stock). Unfortunately one of the fish types was a little too old and meat was flaking, the rest were great.
Sabu sabu was alright, not extraordinary but good ingredients and well presented. Beef seemed fresh too.
Shishamo was a little under-grilled for our liking while the cod fish was a bit strange, being pre-batter-fried, before putting sauce over. A far cry from Raku's delicate treatment of the valuable fish.
We tried stuff like Salad, cold clams, garlic rice. All fairly good.
Last plus point was that the owner came out in the middle and asked all tables for feedback + urged all to order more. Nice! Overall service is pretty good for SG restaurant standard.
Conclusion - beats Hanabi hands down on all fronts. Pricing is a bit too close to premium outlets like Raku which really give good stuff. But overall a place I would bring ppl back to. |

| Wonderful little place with good food.
I celebrated my 6th Anniversary at this Neil Rd outlet after reading some reviews at several sites. We had a group for 4 pax.
Previously we had tried Hanabi at Odean Towers. Himawari beats Hanabi hands down for the quality of food...no. of items is lesser but definately sufficuent choices.
Food was fresh, the only disappointment was the teriyaki salmon which was overcooked. The tempura was the best I had eaten as it wasn't that heavily dosed with flour compared to alot of other places. Grilled cod fish was also good. Sashimi was fresh (not frozen). Ambience is so-so. It wasn't crowded because we went on a Tues (4th Dec 2007). Service was pretty good. Overall, I would love to go back for the 2nd time...any day!
We paid $32.80+++ per pax for dinner. |

| Nice buffet
I went here with my Japanese friend last sunday on 28.10.2007. We ordered buffet lunch. We were certainly impressed by the food here. The shabu shabu in particular, is quite nice. The sashimi here too are pretty nice and fresh. It's worth for it's value.
My japanese friend commented that the food here is better than those restaurants in japan. |
