| I am an ice cream chef!
I love the fact that you can create any ice cream flavour there. They have different flavours like milo, baileys, horlicks, kaya bread, etc flavours. You can take two flavours, three flavours, etc and mix them up together and add in mix-in.It's really an innovative idea. Everybody can create their own special icecream. However there is still room for improvement for the quality of icecream. It's not as smooth as i like. I like my ice cream smooth like hagan daz.
The ambience there is cosy, good for romantic first date or chill out session. I like the idea that you can take pictures there and post it on their board. It's like making the place part of yr place.
Value wise, slighty pricy, but still affordable.
Service, good, friendly stuff! |

| I scream - ice cream!
My friend suggested this place because it was highly recommendeded by her colleagues and we happened to be in the vicinity. Might be easy to miss if you're driving, so please slow down when you know you're in the area and keep your eyes peeled.
Quite a large range of ice cream available for you to choose, but I hope you're not expecting the oh-so-common vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, etc. You're better off heading down to NTUC and picking up one from the freezer section.
As people with short-term memory issues might relate (it was about 2 months ago when I came), I can't remember all the flavors I ordered. But if you're looking to stay up late to mug for your exams, do try the cappucino flavor. If caffeine is brown in color, then maybe it wasn't chocolate sauce on the ice cream (kiddin'). I do remember that the ice cream scored high on the taste count, but unfortunately they ran out of nuts (my favourite topping) so.. Minus marks!
If I had to use one word to describe the decor, MODEST would be it. A firm table to hold your ice cream, steady chairs and a bench to hold your butt. Limited seating inside; dining alfresco might not be a good idea if it's both scorching your skin and turning your ice cream into milkshake~
THE DEAL >> Exotic flavors to tingle your taste buds, throw in your favourate toppings and watch the young ice cream chefs work their magic in mixing them all up! |

Toppings that is.. Been meaning to try out this place for a while but seems that every time I am in the area, I've already pigged out too much to squeeze this in. So on a hot sunny afternoon, the place beckoned…
The day I visited the shop didn’t have any of the basic flavours ie vanilla, choc or strawberry which meant that I ended up with an ultra sweet ice cream – cookies & cream base with M&Ms AND maltersers (they made a mistake so I ended up with 2 toppings). Pretty yummy given the bits of things inside but really a tad too sweet and halfway through, I could almost feel a sore throat developing.
This place has tons of toppings from chocolates to cornflakes to biscuits andf apparently you can also bring your own toppings - as long as it’s edible, so I think I will bring a banana the next time and see if they can mix it in. Wonder if it needs to be frozen. Mixing in toppings that you bring is free, provided they don’t already have it there I think.
I miss whirla whip though - choc base & M&Ms. Mmm.... It was ahead of its time. I think someone should bring it back… = ( |

I and the other half have passed by this inconspicuous shop numerous times and today was the chance where we finally stepped into the modest shop. Cheery place albeit tiny, bright lighting n light pink theme which makes one happier (although ben & jerry's has done a better job at it).
Immediately greeted by the staff at the counter. 2 of them and they seemed inexperienced, but nevermind, they r still friendly. Next saw a host of flavours. Finally chose Mrs Smith (apple-cinnamon flavour) with waffle crisp, as well as Hersheys-Nutella mix with rice krispies.
Mrs Smith by itself was great; chunks of apples that tasted just rite with a hint of cinnamon flavour. After mixing with the waffle crisp, taste changed a bit. But it then tasted like apple pie.
Hersheys-Nutella mix with rice krispies: could taste nutella & hersheys, n tasted just right. Not too sweet, not too creamy. The crunchy rice crisps gave it more texture.
Enjoyed the light dessert. |

As the third stop of our Ice Creampalooza tour, where we sample and taste what is supposed to be the best ice cream in Singapore (parlours must be independently owned and the 'cream home-made), Ice Cream Chefs had quite a lot to live up to, considering our first two stops were powerhouse favourites Ice Cream Gallery and Tom's Palette.
It remained frozen in competition.
The concept is the ever-popular Coldstone Creamery dessert-on-a-slab gimmick, where you select your ice cream flavour, mix-ins, and everything's mashed up for you on a piece of stone cold marble. Usually, stores offering this kind of ice cream prep rely on the creativity of mix-ins offered and allow the customer to settle for generic ice cream bases. So it's kudos that Ice Cream Chefs has concocted its own flavours, and pretty original ones at that, for your base pleasures (Tea and Coffee, Mrs.Smith's, etc.). The selection of mix-ins is also quite innovative, from the usual Snickers and granola to the more unique Malteesers and Waffle Crisps. However, if your "innovative" flavours don't taste too good, it might just better to stick to the originals.
I ordered a double scoop of Chocolate & Hersheys and Green Tea and my cousin ordered the Choclate & Hershey's and Butter Pecan. The consistency of the ice cream was the best we had tasted thus far -- the silkiest and most commercial tasting. But as a result, or because of that, the 'cream also tasted the most blah and artificial. The Green Tea could've come from matcha powder and the chocolate seemed like it was more Hershey's doused in cream than actual natural cocoa. My cousin also felt that the parlour relied more on schlock to sell its ice cream than on the strength of its product alone -- the true test is to sample the ice cream WITHOUT the mix-in and see how well it can stand on its own. Unfortunately, it was just not cool enough. |
